That's from smudging the ink with your hand as you write...
I'm a righty. Used to be fairly ambidextrous and drove people mad when I'd just take up writing with the other hand, but that ability sort of faded over the years.

I still do some things with both hands. I can type with either both hands or just a random one. I don't hold or carry anything in a specific hand, and I give things in whatever hand's closest. But I write with my right hand.
I am a southpaw. but i just play like everyone else in orthodox stance of whatever sport. I have a really heavy jab hehe.
Right handed.
Eating is always is sometime complicated for me, can't use a specific hand for fork & knife...
I'm not known as being the sharpest tool...
Never drove anything else than LHD vehicles...could be an epic fail to try RHD....
Right handed naturally, but I use my left for my fork, amongst other things.

Feel quite comfortable using my left hand.

Going back to the RHD thing, I can't get my head around LHD. Using my right hand to shift just feels really wrong and I miss the shifter entirely usually! I'm definitely more accurate steering with my right and shifting with my left.
I'm a common righty too.

I learned to drive LHD and have been driving that solely for about 12 years. However, a friend of mine has a few cars imported from Japan and I've had the chance to drive them. I drove his R33 GT-T for 2 weeks while my car was down (waiting on brake fluid of all things).

The biggest hurdle for me wasn't shifting w/ my left ... I got down good enough for daily driving in about 5 minutes. Breaking the memory habits that you don't have to think about is the hard part. Using your right hand for the blinker is the obvious one, but checking your mirrors is the hardest thing to get used to. Even after 2 weeks I was still having to consciously tell myself to glance left for the rear view and the the right side mirror was MUCH closer.

From a performance driving aspect, it took a while to keep myself from leaving my hand on the shifter. I hadn't built the muscle memory in my left hand to remember where the shifter was. I'd reach and miss, so I left my hand there most of the time. this wouldn't be acceptable on the track at all. Also, downshifting took a while to get. Standard rev matching was fine and easy, but I never got heel-toe down in that car. It was partly because my feet are absurdly huge, but also because I had to think too much. Many techniques you take for granted are MUCH more difficult when your conscious mind has to deal with so many things at once. After botching several corners I just gave up ... it would have taken many laps on the track to get it down.

Now, this all applies to switching from LHD to RHD (or the opposite) and not really to righty vs lefty. I'd guess that there would be no specific handicap on either driving position for a righty or a lefty given proper seat time and training.

On a side note, it's amusing watching my friend get in to a car ... he switches from LHD to RHD so much he forgets which side to get in to.
Quote from MR_B :Lefty here too! And it's not cackhanded it's hand discrimination!

pc mice for right handed people..... limited choice of joysticks and scissors.

Left being left handed and right legged is great for motorbiking! Smooth clutch control and a good kick for the kick start!

not necessarily, i'm right footed/handed but me left foot is more powerful than my right, mostly because it's what i jump from when i play basketball i guess.
#33 - Osco
right handed, but use the G25 shifter with my left hand, due to desk space limitations. Never had a problem with that
#34 - Jakg
Right-handed, but use the "wrong" hand for eating.

I also type / use the mouse with either hand no problem.

I am already to used to the indicators being on the wrong side - in my instructors Fiesta they are on the right, whereas in my Proton they are on the left

And because you can't see what you've just written So you never know if the next letter you write is in the correct place!

@Storm Cloud - You should have heard the laugh I had just now! There was the devil's name written all over it! Are you a righty(conventional bore), a lefty(awesome) or both? (a cheat) As your avatar has a pipe in your left hand but a match in your right
Quote from banshee56 :Incidentally, one of the first things I thought of after injuring my hand was that I wasn't going to be able to drive in LFS for a while. Does that mean I need to get out more?

I remember that. It was when you, th84, and I were racing with the GTL guys in the NASRL(?) league, right?

Quote from Shotglass :if the second thing you thought of was " how am i going to watch porn"... yes

He didn't leave LFS outright. He would come on the servers every night complaining because he couldn't drive, or do "other things" while surfing the net...

Edit: About the LHD/RHD car topic, I've been stuck in the wife's hand-me-down auto transmission for 2 years now. The fact that I still move my leg to push in the non-existant clutch after driving a manual since 1990 leads me to believe that I wouldn't be able drive a RHD car for my life.

left handed too. Writing with left hand. Using the Comp mouse with Left, but play CSS with right xD

Maybe the picture was mirrored for aesthetic reasons. I do usually hold my pipe in my right hand (oooooh Missus)
Quote from BlakjeKaas :In latin sinister means left and unlucky or wrong (or something in that direction)
and dexter means right and lucky or good.

In latin dexter = right and sinister = left, although there are further meanings associated with those words, most likely it's because lefties have always been the minority, and thus seen as different or less good.

For those interested, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Left-handedness, has a sizeable chunk of text detailing reasons for that.
left handed and my hand writing is terrible, hate it...i thought to teach myself to become a right handed person
I'm another lovely lefty.
left handed.
So I write and draw with my left hand.
And thats why I sometimes fail at drawing. Cause I like working from left to right, and thus smudging everything by the time i get to the right side. Pfft.

I have the mouse in my right hand, cause the mouse has always been on the other side. So at the age of 4-5, i thought it was natural, and meant to be like that. So I had no intention of changing that.
That actually helps. When i work with a tablet in PS, I don't have to put my pen down to operate the menus, which I do better with a mouse. nehehee.

I have hated scissors all my life.
I got scissors when I was about to go to school, and they were sharp as hell. And they were so awkward that I managed to cut in my finger, might have cut a nerve or something. so my left thumb doesn't work as originally configured
Quote from rsnake53 :Right handed, not ambidextrous.

I drove the V8 Supercars in rF and even switched my shifter to the left side to see if I could drive as close to the real thing as possible, but could not get the timing down for gear changes.

I know it's not impossible for right handed people to drive a right hand drive car, but I imagine it would be a hell of a learning experience if you've learned to drive a left hand drive car. I suddenly find myself wanting to give it a try in an actual car...

Actually it's not that difficult. Admittedly it is awkward at first but after a few drives in a "left hand" , (meaning the wheel is on the left), drive car it gets easier and by the time you've done maybe a total of 3-4 hours in one it pretty much becomes second nature.
I'm a lefty.

Isn't writing in ink a pain! Your hand drags through it and makes it look a right mess. Have to stick to bloody biros.
Left handed!, there's a fair few here ain't there!

Not had any problems soo far! Hmm apart from bollocks hand writing and the ink smudging haha.
Left handed, right footed (I like the go pedal ) Righ handed at throwing things, left handed at playing pool, holding a gun etc.

Fork goes in my left hand...

The only problem I have with being left handed is writing, having to push the pen instead of pull it just makes it harder, and to add that your hand is going over the fresh ink, thus smudging the crap out of it.

Meh,
I'm right handed. Tried to use the left hand for writing before, but failed epically.

Boa ideia Jonny
Quote from Jakg :Right-handed, but use the "wrong" hand for eating.

Same here.

I can't figure out how to hold the fork in the left and the knife in the right hand and eat successfully.
I'm completely righted.

Right handed and footed. I completely suck with my left hand, writing is illegible, kicking a football is hardly an art either (then again, it's hardly amazing with my right foot either!! xD)
