Building new PC, $1300
Hi guys,

I have approximately $1250-1300 to build a new PC. I need everything included except the speakers. What would you suggest? I would prefer a 22" monitor.

Thanks,
Kenneth

Please clarify this sentence for me lol.

Anyway, here's the basic computer with how much you should spend on wach part:

Core 2 Duo E8400 : $200
Motherboard with P35 or P45 chipset: no more than $200
2GB RAM: less than $100 from respected brand, don't buy "value" ram
Case, power supply: no more than $150 combined
22" monitor: $250

The rest depends on your needs. If you need this system for gaming then you gotta invest $200-300 for a good video card. If you want good sound invest another $50-100 for a good sound card. You may also want a good keyboard and mouse, another $100 at least.

Fail. I think he meant everything included except :P.

Looking good, looks like Tiger have lowered their prices. When I bought my computer I bought everything from Canada Computers as their prices were much cheaper, but now they're about the same.

You probably don't need to buy that CPU fan as the processor already comes with the Intel stock fan which is pretty much identical to that one. I'm using the Intel stock fan and my CPU is around 40C all the time, so it's not bad at all.

Also, you better use a 64-bit OS if you have 4GB of RAM, I've had some really bad experiences when I put 4GB of RAM in my 32-bit system (read: endless blue screens of death).
I suggest you get 1066 MHz RAM, not 800 or 667 MHz.
I changed everything around because I realised the motherboard I had picked would not fit my case Here is what I chose now

What do you think?

Thanks,
Kenneth
I think you're trying too hard to fit everything you want in your small budget. Do you have spare parts you can use? If so, use them till you get more money. There's no reason to buy a low-end system with a lot of bells and whistles when you can get a high-end system for just a little more money. E7300 is a low-end CPU (get at least an E8200) and motherboards using Nvidia chipsets are horribly overpriced for what they offer.

Btw you can find the motherboard and CPU for cheaper price here and here.

Cheaper and better RAM here. (Don't worry, RAM is backwards compatible, so it will work fine at 800 MHz).

Cheaper hard drive here.
Alright, I am going to go try and find some better parts at CC for under my budget, will edit back in a bit.

Ok, so here is what I have:

Thanks,

Well you don't have to buy everything from one store, do you? The video card is clearly much cheaper at Tiger.
Well..no I don't I guess. Maybe I can find a builder outside of the actual companies. Then I could buy the parts cheaper at either store

Thanks for your advise.
Kenneth
