I am looking for a racing sims that are not very well known, and maybe a bit old but that I am curious about. First, does anyone remember that person on RSC who modified some cars for RACER, and then made his own little driving sim? I am really curious as to what happened to that game.

And I remember another sim where there was like a pickup truck or a mustang that you could drive in the game, but as I recall the gears acted really funny and it basically was like driving a really crappy automatic transmission. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, or remember those games?

Carmageddon was great, I remember I bought it for like £2.50 and had weeks of fun

You mentioned Racer, which by my recolection was terrible, boring, hard to use, many mods of poor quality.

TypeS? I remember finding that one on RSC, the same time I found Racer and NetKar Naime or whatever he called it back then. I still have TypeSv021 saved on my drive.

There´s 2 that I remember that you might want to check out. They´re still being developed and updated, but can´t really tell how good they are now, because I didn´t test any of them for a long time...

Hummer, talking about the S5 engine SMR made? he had a mustang and a pickup in his early betas, if it is the S5 engine, is still in development, but at a very slow rate, ive been his main beta tester for a while now, i get all the new betas and such.

its getting there, ive helped him out with torque curves, suspension geometry and general graphics

OdysseyByCar - afaik there was only demo released, but we used to play it splitscreen with mate and had HOURS of fun. Of course it has crap graphics, sounds and all, but the physics are not THAT bad, actually nearly feels like driving a car

Oh yeah, that's what I was thinking of. So, I guess as of that video there hasn't really been much progress?

That video is quite old, its quite advanced now!

Simple AI, Crash Physics etc

Atm, hes mainly focusing on eye candy, but it does function father well, and has promised a customisable beta in the future, hes after a racer type Drag and Drop installs, as said, ive had all his recent betas and was rather impressed!

Unfortunatly, i dont have any screenshots or betas, due to a recent virus that took my downloads folder with it!

From the video, the physics look quite poor.

Reason for my judgement is that about 2/3's through the video, the car was stopped yet the rear left while kept spinning! -spinny-

As said, VERY old beta, thats one of his first few! that was actually a jumping track with ramps as he was working on Suspension.

The latest beta i recieved was quite impressive! but harsh on the FPS

Lol, graphics on that game you mentioned, e2, remined me of Sega Rally 1 at the game arcade

ye graphs are not too great but the feeling somehow was great

Viper Racing, used to have a good modding communtiy, most of it long gone now I bet.

Turns out game is still going fairly strong for over 10 years now, check out this site for some great mods, used to love racing these things.

God I remember playing that for ages (the demo, was a lot like LFS from what I remember.

I dont remeber the graphics being so awful though?
