Hi, need a bit of help...
Hello all,

Pretty new to LFS but yesterday got an S2 license and am loving it. Just a quick question from noobme...

I read a while back on forum something about CUT THROTTLE on UPSHIFT and BLIP on downshift and from what I've read it gives you a little advantage in gear changing. I wanted to try this out in single player mode to see the difference but have no idea how to do it.

Not sure if it even applies to me as I use a PS2 pad with Sequential shift selected - so would it benefit me or would I need a clutch and wheel setup?

I have seen the code in the www.lfsmanual.net where it has a /gccut [0-1] and /gcblip [0-1] - Am just not sure what to set it as OR where to put it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards

Ruff

That was all changed when the clutch model was added, so the options to do that were removed and no longer apply.

You have to do both manually now.

That's a macro, a script added to try and get the same effect as the old cut throttle on up shift option.

But it's close to being unfair, a cheat or not.
Oh right so it's not allowed to be used? Was curious to see the difference.

It's allowed on public servers, but deemed unfair by many people
How can you tell if someone is using it? I mainly play Rally X Blackwood and see a lot of guys getting great laps. Was wondering if they may be using the advantage to get them quick laps.

TBH @ BL RX there are'nt many gear shifts (5th-3rd-2nd-4th-1st-5th) so it wouldnt be that much of an advantage. I don't think there is actually a detectable way of seeing whether they're cheating or no, might be wrong though.
I think it is safe to say that only a minority of people use such a macro, and mostly for hotlapping to get those extra hundreths off their laptimes.

It doesn't take seconds off your laptimes. Maybe 1 or 2 tenths depending on the track, but most of the time we're talking hundreths of a second. Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone.

So if the people you race with are getting much better laptimes than you are, then that's most likely not due to such a macro
