NOD32 is the best payware anti-virus. AVG and Avast are the best free ones. Also try Spybot S&D and Lavasoft Ad-Aware to run a spyware check.

Have you tried starting in safe mode before using AVG to remove it? Some viruses are persistent little buggers and will just reinstall themselves when you reboot if you don't drop to safe mode first before you remove them.

Wow someone actually fell for a malware anti-malware program!

The only way to keep your computer clean is not to download malware in the first place, which isn't difficult. You shouldn't need any anti-malware/virus programs in the first place, they just use up resources and don't work most of the time.

You'd be surprised - for work experience I had to fix someones PC who's manage to fall for that prank in an IE window (WTF!).
A good 30% of all the computers that I am asked to fix have been got at by malware "anti-malware" proggies...
As long as there are n00bs around, these companies will continue to profit from them....and so will I...cleaning up their hard drives
you dowload porn... you had a folder of it.

People still buy Norton? It's useless.

The guys above have pretty much mentioned all the best protection available.

Personally I don't have any AV/AM software on my PC, been running a good two years on FF, no problems yet =)

Good luck in fixing your problem =]
Quote from WizardHat :People still buy Norton?

Don't know why people buy Norton because I don't know if it's me but it sometimes tells you that your pc has a virus but there never is a virus, I used to get this when the subscription was running out, Don't trust Norton anymore seems to be a rubbish anti-virus program

What! how is Norton or any other AV provider 'useless'?

So by your statement all these multi-billion Dollar company's are useless?

Some people don't have the time nor interest in maintaining their PC's, it's easier to buy support and have the option to talk to someone at worst.

That's why they're multi-billion dollar companies, not because they have a great product ;]

You are typing in riddles.

We cannot help if we cannot understand you.
Rough translation:
"I do not like AVG because I cant set it up properly and it is stopping me downloading pr0n."
LOL! Sorry, well basically my internet has been working fine but recently started to loose connection so downloaded AVG to see if it was a virus problem, did a scan and removed 38 things from my computer, there was a couple of things i noticed like McAfee not working any more etc before the scan, its came back.

Today it was working ok, then it just completely stopped and my browser wasn't working either. Couldn't open my computer or anything but as soon as i tell AVG to run a scan my internet worked and My computer opened instantly. How should it be set up?

Well the problem seems to be that everytime i try to access any website it does and avg URL seek thing which seems to mess it up.
Norton sux, slows down your pc, doesn't catches all the virusses etc.. so Norton fanboys: ur product stinks
Get AVG or NOD32 <--- 2 best for me and my work colleges
BTW: When you install AVG do not (untick the selectionboxes) select Webshield and linkscanner, that sux in AVG yes but apart from that it's a very nice program

The only reason Norton sells is because PC World sells it.

Trust me I work there
