Has something changed about the way outgauge and outsim are reported from LFS as of patch z? My third-party gear (eg. Frex) which has worked for every version of LFS does not work for patch Z.

Is there anything I need to set up differently in my .cfg now?

Did you check that the OutGuage/OutSim settings in your cfg.txt file are set up correctly? It's possible that when you installed the patch it replaced your old cfg.txt file
