Question r.e. online racing
Watching some of the videos on YouTube it seems that the opponent cars are constantly appearing and disappearing and jerking around the track.

Is this actually what it's like racing online? Or is that just because of a really bad connection/server or something?

If it's like that in all or even most races, I think the most important thing the devs should focus on now is realistic, non-kamikaze A.I. because what I saw sucked. I couldn't race like that.

I was really looking forward to racing online and joining a league in the next few months...

Yup. Some people lag depending on their connection.
Its the exception rather than the rule tho. If someone is lagging that bad they nearly always end up getting disco'd or just give up.
Ah cool.

Another question, just so I know what to practise.

Is there a good variety of car/track combination options on the online servers? Or do most racers involve a select few specific cars at specific tracks?

Cheers.
At the moment (think theres a thread with this debate in it) its mainly the same few combos with the same cars as well. Usually the shorts tracks as well.

The cruise servers however are usually pretty full.

A few servers (Redline/Conedodgerst)run he same combo 24/7 365.

The CTRA Race2 and 3 servers run every track(except oval and rallycross) in the game. Tracks change every 2(?) hours

DeadMenRacing run fairly unusual combos for a week at a time culminating in a 1 hour race on Thursday evenings.
Quote from the_angry_angel :Depends on the night, server, etc.

I'd suggest checking http://www.lfsworld.net/?win=hosts to see the current servers and what people are racing on.

Okay cool.

...ugh now I see why the "racers" complain about the drift/cruise scene.

So what are generally considered the best servers for racing? Redline/Conedodgers? I suppose I should just join a league for racing...

Sorry for the noob Qs.

Redline/Conedodgers only if you enjoy running the same combo over and over and over and..........

CTRA is the only place to get variety of tracks every couple of hours.
OP reminds me of my Sex Ed. school days!

Quote from ReadMe :Watching some of the porn videos on YouTube it seems that the male is constantly appearing and disappearing and jerking around the female.

Is this actually what it's like having sex? Or is that just because of a really bad camera or something?

If it's like that in all or even most encounters, I think the most important thing the directors should focus on now is smooth, non-kamikaze actions because what I saw sucked. I couldn't get off like that.

I was really looking forward to having and joining a gang bang/ann summers party in the next few months...

Oh and mate, just go and bloody race online now! The sooner the better, because the AI and real people are very different (AI are predictable) :P
I think its best to join the CTRA servers because they run allor of combo's, but for real racing its best to join a nice league.
The two gentlefoot.com servers gentlefoot.com#1 and gentlefoot.com#3 run combos that are raced in the GFC/GTTC. These are quite unusual layouts generally.

Having said that they are both BL1 at the mo. lol

Usually a handful of us on them between around 9-12 UK local time.

Really I'd love to, but I can't for practical reasons.

Firstly, I'm just about to leave Ireland to go home to Australia and I'm not getting a broadband connection here for only two months. Secondly, I'd like to practise more so I don't embarrass myself or crash everyone out of the race.

It's a pity, I'd love to do some unusual races like the UF1 or MRT5 on some of the shorter tracks, but it doesn't appear I'd get a race.

Anyone suggest a good Aussie league so I can check out their web-page? I'm a graphic designer by trade so will also be looking forward to coming up with a outlandish paint job. Hehe.

I'd say the CTRA servers are the best for racing, simply because of the reporting system and the track changes, but then i'm probably a bit biased.

I have no experience with Conedodgers simply because I would rather insert broken glass up my anus than drive a single lap of AS Nat / GTR, let alone do 40 million laps (or whatever they do nowadays).

Redline? Well after recent admining standards i'd really say no...

TBH the server i'm most into atm is Bump&Jump. I've driven most of the cars at most of the tracks and Bump&Jump feels so... new and fresh compared to my last 35k miles.

I love racing on Conedodgers.. but I never get the time to go at it

Credit to you for your caution, joining public servers. I always find the people who plunge in with caution turn into the better drivers. Those that go headfirst without any respect for those around them.. they generally never get past sucking.
