I'll buy a license eventually however I have more important things to spend money on...

Like PS3 and GT5

"Years and Years" I've only been playing for about 3 months now.
LFS is waaaay better that GT5

GT5 isn't even close to being released, the Prologue just came out .. today. (or was it last Saturday?)

And by the way, GT5 is useless, yes it has more cars.. great! but there is nothing to make the game more interesting, hell, GT still doesn't have skidmarks for crying out loud!
Plus, both of those are way more than the worth of LFS.
You can buy two LFS S2s for the same price of GT5.

Hahaha I know its much much more... but graphics wise and the cell processor power of ps3 and the physics will be the most realistic sim yet. Bar none.

PC cant even touch the raw processing power of PS3

Ok off topic this isnt a GT5 vs LFS thread but I still really miss the XRT
The new cheapest line PS3, the $400 will be worth it. Future of it, Blu Ray, etc.

GT5 will not be worth it, it is the EXACT same in every aspect to GT4, except different cars.

You mean YOUR pc can't touch the power of a PS3. The GT series has been terrible in terms of physics since 2, enjoy your eye candy at twice the price of LFS.

Not true at all. It's completely reworked and in 1080p....

Not to mention the newly added interior car views.

It's going to be groundbreakingly different.

That's what they said about GT3, and especially GT4.

@porsche, besides the slightest of graphical updates, what is new physics wise, or anything else really?

Oh so you have a cell processor in your pc?

News flash... 10-times faster than current PC chips

Yup, but it's all relative
Porsche, you have to understand that PCs have caught up with PS3 within.. actually, Apple has been ahead of the PS3 for over a year when it was introduced. Other companies are catching up as we speak.

The PS3 introduced a multi core gaming processor, 3 processors to be exact, which is often split upon graphics, physics, whatever else.

You can buy Dual quad cores these days, PCs are dramatically faster these days, just not at the same price.

Not to mention, Dell makes a WoW LAPTOP yes, LAPTOP, with a full size 5.3" hard drive, a PhysX card, and dual SLi nVidia cards.

So much for 3 cores, and a nice graphics card.

You are thinking of xbox 360 bro.... that was the 3 core

Sony's PS3 cell processor is in a league of its own, its at supercomputer territory...

By the way Gran Turismo's Physics get updated for each release and because of the power of ps3 the physics will be the most realistic than any sim.. yes ANY sim PC or Console alike

It's comparing apples and oranges, you don't have a clue of what you're talking about.

Lol, no you obviously seriously don't.

Not really. Its got one main cpu with 7 more basic slave processors, one of which is disabled to increase yields. The architecture is actually less efficient than that of the Core 2 line from Intel.

Add to that the Graphical processor is roughly equivalent to the 7800gtx, which is to say, not that great anymore....

What that has to do with the XRT is... i don't know. Find $24 and buy S1 for the XRT, the dev's deserve it.
I always thought the 360 was single core.
Ah, well the PS3 has 8 cores too.

Oh nice it has 1080p too
fantastic!

Oh wait.. what was that? 8 cores? PC's have had the capabilities of having 8 cores since 2003.
PCs have also supported 1080p the past 4 years.

Sony just did a good job of putting it in an affordable package, that is all.

360 is a triple core... And it turns out very few 360 games and not all the ps3 games have true 1080p support. Even if they do, its with very low levels of AA/AF
but they dont... quad core is the best u can get.
Porcshedrifter - Have you played GT5 prologue?

I have played the demo and all, while it may be good, its not as good as LFS
Quote from porschedrifter :but graphics wise and the cell processor power of ps3 and the physics will be the most realistic sim yet. Bar none.

You fail at life.
Threads seperated.
More processing power isn't going to make the physics better, the only thing that will is the person coding the game.
Quote from porschedrifter :Hahaha I know its much much more... but graphics wise and the cell processor power of ps3 and the physics will be the most realistic sim yet. Bar none.

Processing power doesn't limit current physics engines (well short of attempting something like a non-rigid body engine that is still way beyond any commercially available domestic equipment including the PS3).

GT5 will have equally crap physics because dispite what the label is it is not a simulator and has not intention of being one (can you even roll the car you or get any damage?). Physics has nothing to do with power more good coding and no shortcuts. GPL is a ten yera old game and came out on pre-historic computers but still absolutely thrashed Forza all the TRDs and CMRs and all the GTs (and it will thrash GT5), because unlike arcade games branded as sim engines like LFS, RBR, nK, ISI and Papy, they aren't intended to be an accurate recreation of real life they willingly break the laws of physics to varying extents (Forza isn't too bad, the GT series are at the bottom of the pile) to make the games easy to play. They may still be fun, I quite enjoyed Forza, but they are not true simulations.

If they're not already faster PCs will soon catch up and remain upgradeable where the PS3 will be quickly out dated and become limited in comparison to PCs, just like every previous console has. If you just want to play a limited selection of over priced games then a console will be a better option. If not then a PC will always present better value and offer the same quality graphics, you can already play LFS in higher definition than GT5 if you've got a display that can do it. Part of the reason the PS3 can run all those effects is because it misses out the basic details, like skid marks and still only a handful of cars in view. The graphics processor in the 360 is actually superior to the PS3 anyway so until the game developers start using the Cell to do graphics the 360 will still produce better graphics.
Quote from porschedrifter :but they dont... quad core is the best u can get.

It is? Then why can I go to Apples website and get a Dual Quadcore (8 cores) Machine?
