YES!!!! new computer
i finally convinced my dad in buying a new computer my budget is 1,000 dollars which one should i buy
(good fast at least 60 fps on lfs)
congrats ... that budget should get you over a 100 fps easy...
do some research...and build it yourself...

the ones posting behind me will tell you what hardware too go for

dual processor 2 gb ram amd ge force 8000 somthin its good
you deleted the hewlet packerd link...
personaly i would build the pc myself..
a beefy dual core and some 8800GT and 2 gb of ram would be a start

you need all the components or you gonna scrap the old pc and swap over harddisk etc etc monitor keys yadda yadda

I just bought a PC for £650 http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=30550

Generally prices are cheaper in the states so you may be able to get that for $1000 otherwise you could go for an E6550 and standard 8800GT (or even a 8600GTS).
ok i decided on a new emachine dual proccesor 8800 gt ge force and a 1 gb ram (upgrade later) and super fast internet plus 17 inch monitor is 650 dollars good deal right and now i have an excuse to buy LFS s2 ill say i have no games hahaha yes and i also got a wheel whoo hoo im so happy!:laola::bounce8::bananalla:bannana_p:huepfenic:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

THAT costs £490?

Rip-Off.
Try ebuyer.com, you can get the parts cheap, and get someone to build it up. A majority of us tend to go for customized pcs to save money from a PC straight off the shops like PC World.
i already bought it im opening it now im getting the heebie jeebies you no?
Keep 50$ on side for S2, otherwise your computer will be worthless.
^I agree, if you've got the cash for a brand new PC, I'm sure you have the cash for a license.
And I'm just wondering...what do you have against us hippies?

Shared video memory...

Eww.

That wasn't a clever thing to do . You've been ripped off, I think

But for 1000 dollars you could've bought a much faster one
It's sad for me to watch people buy computers fast and realizing it's crap...I feel sorry for you, really. Just why...why
I know how you feel My classmate bought a computer from a big store (PC-World-ish) for €800. It had a 250gb hdd, a Pentium E6600 and an nVidia 7500LE. That was about half a year ago. Rubbish
£650, ex. Monitor...

Asus P5K
Intel Pentium E2180 Dual Core
OCZ Platinum 2Gb Kit 2X1Gb
Writemaster CD/DVD RW
Seagate 500Gb SATAII Harddrive
Random case
8800GTS 620mb

there you have a great pc
Its a shame you have bought a PC from a store, its not always the best solution if your looking for a gaming rig

Oh well, at least your happy with it, thats the main thing
Harjun, the E2180 is vastly underpowered compared to the rest of the machine.

True. I'd plump for the 320mb gts and put the extra cash towards the processor, possibly a 6600.

And E2180 isn't that badly underpowered, although if your not going to overclock i'd get a faster CPU (ie a E6550/E6750), however you could drop the GTS in favour of the faster GT.
