Question about choosing resolution
Hi,

My new pc arrived Friday and offcourse LFS was installed asap
Trying to set the resolution as high as possible, I can't get higher then 1152*(dunno the numbers anymore).
On my brothers pc it's possible to go up to 1600*1200.
Is this normal?

My specs: AMD4400 X2 (yes yes dual core ) - Nvidia 7800GT - 1Gb DDR - using LCD screen (==> maybe the cause?)

Brothers specs: AMD1800XP - Geforce 3 Ti200 - 768mb DDR - using CRT screen

The screen may be limiting the res. My 17" TFT can only do a MAX of 1280 X 1024, and i know most 19" TFT's can only do 1280 X 1024.

Check the MAX resolution of the monitor, and is the dual core fast???

I'm playing e.g. SWAT4 in 1600*1200 and no problems.
Dual core is WOW Playing in that 1152*(nr) resolution, all detail on, FSAA & AA on max and getting 150-200fps in some places.
righty,

Have you gone onto "Show NON square modes??

Other than that - as im unsure, maybe LFS cant support 1600 X 1200??

How much ure pc cost BTW

Yep, I've choosen non square modes, but 1600X1200 is still gone
1600x1200 is available on the other pc.

My pc costed +1500euros, all new (including HD, mouse and keyboard).
It's much, too much, but I'm not someone who upgrades some parts every year or so
im totally unsure then. Thats the only thing i can think off.

Sorry :S

gotta point out that TFT screens' native resolution is 1280x1024 (which happens to be its max too). they work best in that resolution, since anything lower is emulated to fit 1280x1024 (due to the nature of the technology) so it will appear blocky the lower the res.

bigger monitors have higher native resolutions tho i think, as do widescreens.

in LFS, theres an option to display non-square mode resolutions, which should make 1280x1024 appear.
