I need to find a way to keep my parents away from me when i'm on the forums. Any ideas? Every time they walk in they get so paranoid because they think i'm contactiong some child molester.(perhaps Jakg???)illepallThem they want to see what we're talking about, and some of the stuff here my parents would kill me if they saw it. All i want is some freakin peace when i'm in my back porce with the computer, so is there any way to get rid of them??

edit: main reason they freak out is because they found my brother doing "dirty" stuff on his computer.

Infrared sensors that will trigger a red light whenever they're coming your way...
I had my own floor when I was living with my parents and that worked...

I was thinking about the infrared, but i would need about five different sensors because of all the connecting rooms in my house, if i used one i wouldn't have enough time to close the forums.( i'd have a half a second before they'd walk in,they would gt suspicious if i was just clicking on desktop items everytime they walked in.

edit, i could probably steal the neighbors garage sensor lol.

To be honest, if you're doing something that you need to hide from your parents - perhaps you shouldn't be doing it in their house? Chances are if you explain what you *think* is a problem to them, they'll understand.

Just my two cents - and how I always viewed things like that when I was younger.

I've told them plenty of times what i am doing, my mom just jokes around with it now, but my dad is really paranoid with it still, and he's the one watching me every time he walks in.

edit, problem with locking the door is they can lock me in but i can't lock them out lol. Also they can see what i'm lookinng at from the reflection of the window behind me, so they always know what i'm doing, just not in depth.

my only defense is a reflection of the next room from the glass door, it gets me about an extra half a sec to shut down my stuff. But not enough time, even if it saved my ass a thousand times.

On these forums there is really nothing that your parents should be concerned about, just tell them this and offer to let them use your account to browse about for a while so they can see for themselves.

Just be careful with the demo racers and you have nothing to worry about

Simple solution... find several cute animal sites or funny clean cartoon sites, then keep asking them to come see what you found. Insist they come look. Enough times they'll get tired of looking.

In all seriousness though... they're only looking out for you. There are some really twisted people out there. I would say show them they have nothing to worry about but I know some parents will still worry no matter what. My dad still reads my convos when he comes to visit.

It's not for me to judge, but if you're feeling so guilty you have to shut down your 'stuff' before they see it... that says to me maybe it's something you shouldn't be looking at or you're talking in a manner they won't approve of. lol

Close the door to your room.... Then when they wanna come in theyll have to open it, you should be able to hear it, then close IE.... Works a charm for me!

Easy solution for this is to get a girlfriend and I think after that it is not only LFS forum where you would appriciate bit more privacy, parents do have certain ability to be bit more than a little interested from their children's lifes. Don't worry, there is no hope from better, not even if you get 10 years older and not even if you get your own kids

Ha ha ha, now you know how I felt. Don't worry, it's only light-hearted (you can tell, because it's transferred to you as you soon as you 'beat' me. Just have a giggle about it, and take the mickey out of yourself. If you get in the Jakg jokes first people soon get bored.

My suggestion would be either trip-wires or bear traps. Might need two bear traps though, as the other parent will come running when they hear the screams of the first, so get them both and you'll be okay. Add an extra bear trap for every sibling/relative too, and maybe a couple for uniformed visitors (I'm thinking police, but whatever floats your boat).
