Imgur content no longer visible to UK users
Hello Racers!

This is not exactly general LFS discussion but might affect which image sharing site you use.

I have recently seen on some different threads this image:

Yes, it says "Content not viewable in your region".

A quick search reveals that is just how any Imgur picture looks to UK users, since September 30, 2025! Uh-hu

Imgur's info page: https://help.imgur.com/hc/en-us/articles/41592665292443-Imgur-access-in-the-United-Kingdom

So if you want UK people to see your image, please don't use Imgur!

Worth noting is that you can always attach your images, as long as file size for that image is 4 MB or less. You don't always need to show your huge image in your forum post Smile

If you've been using ShareX to take screenshots, you can change your destination of your image uploader at ShareX sidemenu --> Destinations --> Image uploader --> Choose your provider from the list. Imgur is indeed the default destination for image uploads with that software.
Yup... this is where it is going... what's next though? We all are getting more and more restricted by any reason, while at the same time everything is supposed to be "free for all".

I highly understand the decisions, but motives do vary a lot... some of them being far more sinister.

I do not remember if I ever used Imgur in a way or another. I assume this still works with vpn? Unless all vpn's gets restricted too.

You can still use VPN. I found a report about this and someone commented that they changed their location from UK to Ireland and then the images loaded fine for them

EDIT: I tested this with my VPN connected to Sweden and my Imgur images open just fine

I do not need a VPN to access it.

I remember this being an issue as well, ended up configuring split tunneling on linux. Although on my windows install i just installed the vpn browser extension, that way atleast all the traffic from the browser is going through a vpn.
