InSim Question
Hi

Just want to ask a question regarding InSim. I´m not an InSim user, can´t do any advanced programming, but I would like to know if ther´s a possibility to create a short InSim "file" that could be read by a script program like AutoHotKey?

The thing is this. I have a problem when people using the paddles on the sim wheel, just don´t understand that they have to pull the right paddle when the light go green.

So, would it be possible to "read" when the lights go green in InSim, and get a "message" to AHK somehow, AHK could then shift up? Or, maybe the "green" could be read directly in LFS script, and do the same?

Then, when the lights go green, the car would start moving automatically if you just press the throttle pedal. LFS on autogear would then work perfectly for all users.

Thanks,

Meseplayer
There is no way to get the green light event through InSim because if it was possible people would use it to cheat and get a perfect start.

Ok, but I don´t see the cheat, you are permitted to go when lights go green...

and the Ai:s get the green light somehow....

You automate the start by immediately dumping clutch/triggering a launch control routine once you receive the local green flag packet, eliminating the human delay/jump start potential.
Please explain this more exactly, what do you mean, does this involve InSim?
He just explained why it wouldn't be a good idea to expose this information via InSim.
Ok, I do understand that, but in my case it would work. Now, is there a way to get information via InSim when a AI car moves on the starting grid, that would also do the trick.

help them learn Smile)
For your original question, rather than bother with an insim, why not just add a note to your host welcome message.

eg. "Remember: At the start of a race, pull the right hand side wheel paddle when the lights go green.".
Or you could show a message when a race session starts in the middle of the screen maybe using /rcm message, InSim buttons or chat message.

I have tried all kind of ways, but some people are just plain s-t-u-p-i-d and don't get it,maybe they haven't been in a car ever before, and for sure not driven one😀
well, if it's that bad, i don't think there's a point in them racing anyway.
will be a short race with a finish in the first corner
They are paying customers like any other ..
Didn't realize you were running a business with this, makes more sense.
Now this post makes more sense, yeah..

I'm pretty sure this sort of thing is not possible with AHK, but InSim - yes. I could be wrong though.

If you were to pursue this, you can do this with a client-side insim application. With an added delay due to human reaction time.
These days there are various insim libraries to choose from! Best of luck.
Thanks. There seems to be a small possibility to make this happen. I can't do it that's for sure I would have to get in touch with someone who could do it for some reasonable charge. I'm not thinking this is anything anybody would do for free. I think the problem is to get the InSim and my system to understand each other.
I've got a PIE script that puts a quick message on the screen every time a race restarts, just to warn noobs and remind regulars. (you can vote to restart a race on PiranMOTODestructionDerby to see it for yourself)

It's just waiting for a race restart, putting a message on the screen, and setting a callback to delete the message after 10 seconds, but you can tweak the timings. It's not quite on the green light, but it is right before it.

Sry, but I don´t get how that would help me automatically kick in a gear in costumers car at green..
It wouldn't do it for them, it would just put a message on the screen telling them what they had to do
Ok, well, I have done several messages like those ones, also made AI voices doing the same, still some just sit there waiting for the car to start rolling for itself, it´s just...well, what can you say...
Ahhh, sorry, I hadn't quite groked your target audience Smile

If you had the upshift on a key rather than a button, you could have a local insim use the /press command to put it into gear.

That wouldn't help with the timing, but maybe you could train them to wait for the green before accelerating better than you can train them to click a paddle. Or maybe it could be used as a backup, happening sometime after the green if the car isn't moving.

You hit the point there, I just don't know when the green light goes on. I could use the /press command if I knew that. If I just try to time it,then it for sure will be too soon (jumpstart) or too late, the AI:s hit the costumers car. I would have to get information either when the green goes on, or when a (any) Ai car is moving (starting from grid)
InSim can tell if a car is AI or not (one of the flags in the NPL packet), so in theory we can trigger things whenever a car that is AI starts to move.
