Quote from Becky Rose :
My dissapointment is huge as i've been unable to watch this race now for several years. I dont know if one of the satalitte channels covers it in the UK or not,

MotorsTV have shown Bathurst for at least the last two years (possibly three) that I can remember. Last year they aired the race live. They also show every round of the V8s too and have done for years.

If you're desperate for coverage then Five will be showing highlights in the week after the race, in their usual V8 slot I expect.

You don't like rFactor? Big deal, stop crying and get over it.

People in this forum have had the pros and cons of every driving sim available done to death and it's incredibly boring now.

Quote from Fetzo :maybe it has something to do with the bigger servers. but there is a much higher tollerance for wrecking / ruthless driving on the servers today.

no one seems to care if some idiot hates you that much, that he ruins your race EVERY time. because he is only ruining the race of you and some others the other 15 racers just don't care.

and even if he produces repeatedly a pileup in t1, all drivers are eager to press shift+r, but no one ever things about kicking the one who constantly ruins other races, because most of the time he didn't manage to wreck the whole drivers field.

I never vote unless I've witnessed the accident first hand. If I'm half a lap away how is it fair that I can vote on a driver I can't even see?

I've seen too many people instantly hit the 'yes' button as soon as a vote comes up and then when the wrecker retalitates with a kick request of his own they're equally quick to hit yes again, which just proves how flawed the voting system is and why I rely on first hand knowledge before deciding.

It's the same for first corner wrecks, most people are inclined to simply restart than point the finger purely because it's hardly ever the fault of just one person and even then it isn't always obvious who caused the wreck when you're all jostling for position.

People here calling for the wreckers to be perma-banned and blacklisted across LFS servers need to be realistic, enforcing those kind of ideals will only lead to elitism and knee jerk reactions. It's a computer game, we shouldn't be having commitee meetings over something as trivial as a few intentional accidents in a pickup race. If you want a perfectly controlled enviroment then stick to offline racing or closed team and league servers just like in any other online game.

In general though I do feel that people exaggerate just how badly the whole wrecker situation is, I play on the demo servers a lot and the vast majority of my races are squeeky clean.

Quote from Kajojek(PL) :Sure this picture http://www.smh.com.au/ffximage ... /07/470_davidblaine,0.jpg is fake too. The fact that he's in hospital and his stomach organs are not working properly is also fake.

Meh, he's an illusionist, making you believe is what he does.

You whole heartedly buy into it and that's fair enough, I don't.

He wouldn't get half as much publicity if he openly admitted how he does the tricks, would he?

What he does is perfectly possible with the right conditioning, but why would such a talented and highly regarded magician do it the genuine way? The challenge for him is obviously to 'cheat' while making it look as real as possible.

The sphere is just the modern day version of the "look! No hands!" tricks of old. You can't see the strings, doors, food, etc but that doesn't mean they're not there.

Ah, the Speed 8... last of the great Le Mans cars. Why? Because real cars have roofs.

A Group C car would be mental on those long flatout tracks in LFS. Hell, if we got some of them with qualifying engines and mapping they would give the BF1 a run for its money down the straights.

Quote from tristancliffe : I'd argue the Corvette isn't a sports car but a skip.

With that kind of argument you'd look like an idiot.

Cars are products of their enviroment, something you seem incapable of grasping. Why do most American saloons handle like a barge? Simply because the roads over there don't require anything more. You can't hold them to the same standards as European cars because they're filling an entirely different requirement.

The Corvette is different though, as anyone who driven the C6 or Z06 will testify. It's a world beating GT through and through. Only the 911 is close in terms of being a supercar with everyday useability.

So it isn't drentched with the latest technology of it's European cousins, who cares when it works so well? Oh that's right... idiot car snobs who write off vehicles based solely on geography...

We're probably more likely to get a modern LMP1 car as Group C wouldn't really fit in with the modern cars on offer

TWR Jaguars all the way, although I'd love to have a Zytek chassis in the game.

I tend to agree with the original poster. OK, so it isn't realistic having horns in single seaters but sitting in front of a computer screen doesn't give you the situational awareness and advantages real drivers have.

My biggest gripe with the lack of horns is how tricky the ovals are now. Without the luxury of spotters the horns played a big part in helping players signal if they were in a blindspot or side by side.

If you're so silky smooth with the car you shouldn't see the blue light flickering in the first place. The fact is that F1 cars are quicker with TC than without, and isn't the point of racing to get the best result out of the equipment you've got? It's an aid which reacts to what the car is doing, it isn't a game aid like steering help which corrects/helps things before the game ever 'tells' the car. Hardly the realms of turning LFS into an arcade racer like someone said.

The FZ50 is a different story, but not using the TC on the F1 is just imposing a handicap on yourself in every race. Teams wouldn't spend millions developing it if it didn't make the car go faster.

I can see why people would want the challenge of racing the Sauber without TC, so it's a good job it comes with an OFF button.

Quote from ayrton senna 87 :nope, its mandatory that the minimum speed for TC starting is 60kph

I'm sure there are only limits on traction control during the start of a race due to the way the launch control 'ban' is enforced. There are no limitations in any other situation.

Great addition to LFS.

I had a quick go at Blackwood in the XF GTi and it seems a lot easier to get into corners now, no washing out or losing grip when it shouldn't on the slow/tight corners. Muchos more fun.

The Sauber is an absolute blast, it's a four wheeled missile. I love the grinding noise from riding the TC too. I was worried the car would simply be too fast for most of the LFS tracks but after trying Blackwood and a few Aston configs it seems like there is a reasonable balance between them all.

Rosberg's performance will be largely dependant on how Cosworth can develop their engine over the year, and sadly, I doubt they the resources to match Ferrari or Renault.

Williams have always gone well at Monaco though, so they might be the team to beat once we get to some of the slower European tracks.

I'm honestly surprised Massa has fans (outside of Brazil). I've been to a few grands prix and haven't seen a single soul in a Massa cap or even sing his praises on a message board until now.

I think you're almost truly unique el Clownpaint.

Massa battling for 10th place? Who saw that coming?

He was doing well until he made a complete hash of it in turn one. I hate to say it (well, a little) but even Villeneuve in the BMW looked more promising than young Massa did for much of the race.

ITV apologised pretty much straight away for what Fisi said so they won't get in any trouble for it. The rules for live sporting events are generally a bit more lax than for other types of TV, the watchdogs know it's hard to police things like that.

Quote from Clownpaint :He was superb last year over a race distance, I remember him quite frequently popping up with a suprise 4th or 5th. He really needs to iron out his imperfections and keep learning though, I think he has great potential.

He only finished in the top six twice last year and only in the points four times but I will admit there were some stellar performances in those drives, especially considering he was in an fairly ordinary car. The consistency was there as he seemed to finish 10th more often than not.

Massa only beat Villeneuve by a single point too, which considering Jacques floundered for most of the year isn't really that impressive.

I'm not trying to run down Massa, I just find it hard to believe that his record and performances over the years have been enough to justify a paying ride at Ferrari. The cynic in me can't help but think his position was helped by the last name of his manager.

Still, considering my record for armchair punditry I'll no doubt be eating humble pie this time tomorrow.

Quote from Clownpaint :God, Massa is so underrated! Only 16 think he will be in the top 8.

He never really set the world alight when he was at Sauber though, and he got himself a reputation for not being the most consistent driver in his early F1 years. Massa changed his driving style a lot last season, so maybe that's helping with his new found pace.

Still, he did surprise me by being so close to Schumi's time in the final session but I'm holding off on the plaudits until he proves he can match him over a race distance - which is where it counts.

Quote from mr_x :thats like i find 1 BTCC race to have 10 times more action/excitement in than an F1 race now i think its time to hide from the F1 fans

It's unfair to compare them really, F1 (or any open wheel series) has never been about wheel banging side by side racing and trading paint, it's always been the buildup to great overtakes or the trading of insanely fast lap times between the leaders that has kept people enthralled for decades.

F1 is a totally different discipline to touring cars, so it's no surprise you probably don't like it all that much.

I suppose the variety on offer is one of the things that makes motorsport so great.
