Better system for AI racing

So to make a better racing line for AI. i thought of this way...

The ai Follows a ordinary racing line to avoid mistakes and crashes like normally. but it doesn't switch lane at all. only you can see then switching on straight's. to make a overtake which they prob won't be able to do. I know AI can't think but there's a way to avoid no overtaking and more better racing.

Instead of One racing line. we need more different racing line and a switching system so the AI can switch the racing line. and if you ask. (But the ai it's gonna drive like crazy. go wide in straight and corners and make dirty switching probably causing a collision.) That's why i thought of this.

1. Racing Line
2. Wide line
3. Defensive line
4. Attacking line

Racing line it's the same as the ordinary one. but more type of racing line

Wide line it's to go wide in a corner. if is to avoid a crash or to overtake.

Defensive line takes the inside and outside of the corners and straight. and that's WHERE a Sensor comes in. if a AI is too close. the AI will go the inside of the straight/corner or the outside. to avoid a overtake and go defensive when coming on to the corner. and of course. the Attacking AI will go to a racing line which give space to the exit/entry and mid corner for the inside/outside line.

Attacking line will go to his same racing line when too close to AI to grab the slipstream. if the other AI does a defensive move. the Attacking line will try to attach to a racing line to overtake in the straight. Or in the corner. or after the exit.

Sensor:

The ai can change line by a sensor which it's not too hard to script one actually.
depending on the line the AI sees. and how close the other AI is. is the lane that the ai will be taking.

Example:

The AI 2 it's getting closer to the leader (AI 1.) the gap reduced to 1.03 to 0.63. because AI 1 was trying to cool down his tire on a more slower and smoother racing line. so the AI 1 will try to be back on a faster Racing line to gain more gap.

Skill System & level:

We can add different racing line to the skills set to the AI driver. with a new system
Instead of the 1-5 AI level. it's going to be
0-20 to be more detailed. but Skill level 20 it's the same as 5 to let you know. no need to find a improvement racing line.

Low levels takes a horrible racing line. make a lot of mistakes. locks up the tires a lot. and crashes out a lot. and it's not a very clean driver.
Mid levels takes a decent line. but still chances to make a mistake. and it's normal to see then crashing out.
HIgh levels takes the best racing line as possible. almost 0 chance to make a mistake. and it's very hard to see them crashing out in a race.

I think a feature like this would've possible for Live For Speed to improve the AI system a lot

It's a league created by AGRacing and Made for Everybody. Demo. Licensed and the AGR members as well. joining our discord you can see the championship status of the league. The driver standings. Wins. Podiums. Driver of the day. and much more info.

We are also looking for Hosters. So if you want to help us out to host our leagues. we will appreciated it a lot. Because only one man with 1 league. 1 inactive and 1 with as a partnership with more than 50 members can't do all the things at once.

To be signed up in this championship you need to be atleast good with the Formula BMW.

So let me show you the way of how to sign up.

First of all. You need to enter the Racing Discord Server: https://discord.gg/qH3w2yCm
After that. go to #join-agr and click the reaction emoji that appears.
Then go to #apply and type your LFS Username. After that. you're officialy a AGR member. and now to be in the championship. do theses steps:

First. go to contracts or in this forum.
Type your LFS Username. and type Which team you want to race on the championship and car number.
After that. you need to change your LFS Name like this
EXAMPLE: [AGR] Username111 #58

Why it's called AGR? It's the team name of Antonnio Giovannazi Racing.

Why the #58? Well. the number you picked in the car number. will be added on the last part of your name.

To let you know. why did it signed up? Because i'm a Safety car driver and a race director as well.

(Check Enrique Bernoldi Onboard. all the drivers are AI. He was starting fifth so i put him in fifth. and then all of the sudden he doesn't have rims and other stuffs. and spawned so far. Please fix this.)

even the replay was broken. let me explain what happend.

Bernoldi was starting in fifth but for some reason he was behind the grid. so no one was P5. his rims were missing. after the lights. Bernoldi speed up 0-400 KM/H in just 3 seconds. and hardly hits The ferrari. and then the game crashed.

the ai literally suffers driving that. but well. everything to make racing more fun. In my F1 2002 season the toyota was the #8 Worst car in grid. but won.

Ford (My team) Crashed with his teammate. Mclaren crashed with a ferrari 3 dnf. and the other ferrari the engine blow up. The renault were losing time in the podium by seeing who can take second place. and Mika salo after starting on pole after a dramatic qualifying he won.

That's the only issue. The pole sitter always win

I been doing F1 AI with FBM since a long long time. 5 laps. 5 minutes qualifying. ALL FULL RACES since 1990-recent. currently in F1 Season 2002. But i hate something. Overtakes. I created this setup in 1999 F1 season. but one mistake. The pole sitter always win. theres a small chance it doesn't win.

Why it won't use the last F1 Setup i made for FBM?

Because it was glitchy and Cause A LOT of crashes

from 12 drivers atleast 1-6 finishes the GP.

There was a grand prix where only 4 cars finished. so it would be good if we could get a better setup.

So. i been investigating and testing a bit to make AI overtakes. and i found out a way that it's possible to overtake. mistakes. Crashes. and DNF.

Setups.

By Generating or making a random setup and making 12-24 AI race on it. it maybe can cause overtake. or they just gonna go straight into the barriers (as always) and i found a big step to make the ai overtake another ai.

Tires:

Pressure must be different from the other tyre. (from what i know) Example:

8 PSI | 26 PSI

26 PSI | 8 PSI

or it can be different depending on the car or setup. Also. the BEST car to test the setup and cause more overtake it's the Formula BMW. i tried every single car and the FBM it's the one with more chances to cause a overtake.

so right now the setup that can cause overtakes at the moment it's this one called "New AI V3"

Right now only works with:

Small wind.

Blackwood Historic
Blackwood GP
Kyoto Ring National
Kyoto Ring Oval
Reverse Kyoto Ring National
Reverse Kyoto Ring Oval
Aston Club
Reverse Aston Club

so test this setup. and try to make it better. or you can come with another one to make the AI Finally overtake more cars.

Because i set a race with 50 LAPS. Of 24 cars. only 12 overtakes. 10 of them were in Turn 1. divebombing.

so i hope you guys can find a way with Setups. because i tried and it was very useful. but still we haven't find the best setup for AI to make overtakes.

Some AI racing games use that way for racing. Codemaster. EA Sports. and sometimes Beamng.drive (Depending on the car they're using.)

And Full Physics...

we can re-create Similar physics. Just Like rFactor.

They don't use the player Physics but a different Physics that isn't the same. but on track it's quite the same. but what it's the difference? They do more overtakes. More Mistakes. More Crashes. and Faster AI.

and of course for S3 Mods. they gonna keep the LFS Physics. or a Custom Made Physics which it can be made on the LFS Editor.


And About Rolling start and formation. The cars will have 2 types of System for that.

1. The normal AI.

2. Forced AI.

The normal AI will be the same as the LFS. Just driving and trying to win.

Whoever the Forced AI. will NOT apply Physics. The cars will have 2-4 Different Lines for the Rolling start. to NOT cause a crash. and after the Green flag the Normal AI will be switched up again. and the setups won't be applied until the green flag.

Why not Physics?

They probably will glitch out after spawning. and preventing crashes.

Why not Applying Setups?

Just imagine 0 Downforce. No pressure and skinny tires and scrapping suspension. the cars will go straight into the barriers. to avoid that. we won't apply Setups until the green flag it's out.

About the racing line. just like the others ai that they can't think. theres should be like a radar for it. like a hitbox. Like Wheres the grass. The wall. the grave. the cars.

When they see someone brake checking him. The AI First need to be sure his sorrundings. let me give you a example.



The AI after seeing the car infront of course it's gonna try to change his racing line and focus if hes closer
to the grass or wall. This already happends in LFS in the Straight's. (Except blackwood. for some reason they slow down on a overtake in a straight.

But what about in a corner or chicane?



The AI will go his normal racing line like always. but when a car tries to enter in his racing line. The AI will slow down or brake. and give a little bit of space. or just move around a little bit. so the other car. can go through. But what about defensive?. That's Depends on the corners. Example.

Blackwood Turn 1. if they are side by side. the AI will slow down to do a switch back or keep the racing line as side by side.

Kyoto Ring National Turn 2-3: He can slow in the inside line in turn 2. Keep the front wheel to rear wheel and do the attack heading at turn 3.

So the ai was pretty messy on LFS and i think theses suggestions will make it better.

1. alternative Racing line.

Ok so this is been talked A LOT and i know it's almost impossible to do but maybe if the AI system can use
3-4 types of racing line per ai. or combine a racing line with another to do actually overtakes (Which they don't with the FBM). and avoid crashes.

2. Commands.

Some AI can be a bit cheaty. like going track limts. corner cutting. Spinning/Crashing into another car, You get the point.

So i think it would be better to add More commands for that. let me give you a example.

/Penalty 5 [AI NAME]. This does add a 5 second time penalty for the AI you just named. and theres way more.

/Penalty [Time] [AI NAME] Gives a time penalty for the AI named.

/DT [AI NAME] Gives a DriveThrough Penalty for the AI Named.

/FCY [AI]/[ALL] This maybe can be used on AI or Players. This can limit the throttle of the AI/User to 50%.

/DNF [AI NAME] This can make spectate the Named AI. Perfect for a Realistic DNF.

/Pit [AI NAME] This could work for a Strategy.3

/RepairDamage [AI NAME] [YES/NO]. This command can fix the damage of the car in the pit. or not.

3. Your own Racing line.

You can modify the racing line with Free View just like making a circuit. this would be good if you want a different Layout of a circuit and makes the AI races on it.

4. Types of start.

This can affect Players or AI.

theres can be a lot of types.
