Drifting mod?!

Hi!

I wonder, is there any drifting mods out there to give and take points to the drivers?! My mate entered one such host the other day, and now we are curious where to find it...?!

Quote from VorTeX3k :Some news from my side:

I'm currently developing a complete new server script that is LFS World based especially for those users, who don't have HTTP or FTP access to their LFS server.
The script is currently in alpha state and should enter beta testing within this week. There's still a lot to do but it already works very stable (tested with a lot of hosts today).
I'll keep you informed about the process

Great news, VorTeX3k ... Have you made any further progress with this script?

Quote from the_angry_angel :Assuming your box uses the sysV init scripts (which you appear to), you'd have to create a relevant script and symlink it into the correct run level's location

Usually this is /etc/init.d/yourscript, which is then symlinked to /etc/rcX.d/S99/yourscript (assuming Debian there, it maybe different for your distro, although unlikely).

Depending on your distro it would depend on which run level to add it to - it's going to be 2 for debian unless you've changed it, or 3 or 5 for Redhat derivates (3 for text interface only, 5 for full X interface).

Ideally your script should support the start, stop and restart arguments. There is a script floating about, but I'll see if I can bung an example script up shortly.

OK, thanks a lot mr Angry ! I'm running FC5 distr, which seems to use SysV as well as BSD boot procedure, running /etc/rc.local as the last sequence...? It works fine with TeamSpeak Server at least ... But of course it would be nice to stop, start and restart the script !
LFS dedi start at boot time on linux...

Hi!

Is there a way to start the LFS dedihost at linux boot time? I've tried the screen & winconsole thing (previous in this thread) together with the /dedicated=invisible directive in the config file... But with no success .

I've been using the /etc/rc.local file for this, with this code:

# Start LFS dedihost
# ------------------
cd ~lfsuser

# Execute the dedihost start:
# ---------------------------
echo "LFS server started by /etc/rc.local at boot" > ./boot_start.log
date >> ./boot_start.log
# nohup wine ./LFS.exe >> ./boot_start.log & echo $! > lfs.pid
screen -d -m -S LFSserver wineconsole --backend=curses ./LFS.exe >> ./boot_start.log & echo $! > lfs.pid

Running the /etc/rc.local manually works OK both with the nohup and the screen alternative commands, but not as I reboot .

Any clue about how to deal with this?

Many thanks

For me it just haaaaangs and never shows me the result from the host query... I'm not sure our servers are up right now, but that hasn't been a problem with the previous version...

Sry, nope... Still get the error...

Thanks a lot !

But I receive:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ',' or ';' in /home/xxx/xxx/xxx/lfshosts/server.php on line 155

Yeah, sry, you're right here of course! It's when closing the app by closing the window (X button) the host file remains... Which may lead to the advice to start the app by a bat file that deletes the file afterwards, regardless of how one halts the app... On the other hand this will cause yet another window to open on my desktop when starting the app, and that I really do not need ...

OK, thanks! I'll check it out!

But, ehh.... That won't work, will it, since the php script runs on one host and the lfs dedihost is on another one...??!

Gr8 move, FEL. Would be nice if you could collaborate about this and make a final (well...) product that anyone in the LFS community might use, whether he/she's a programmer or not...

On the other hand, for the future for the devs, the mode should maybe be placed in the first lfs string in the host file... I mean, lfs=S2 0.5Q etc... Guess it's nice to just use one file source to gather the information needed...?

Well, almost a bug then !

Yet a proposition: Would be gr8 if one may see the S1/S2/Demo mode of the host as well...

Would be great to get this sorted out, yes !
Online status remains in dedihost's host file after shutdown
misjka

Hi!

As I shutdown my dedihost, with the /exit command, the host file still have status set to Online... Which make the LFS Server PHP script report the wrong status of the host... Must be a bug, qué??

Yeah, I do agree with you XCNuse . It seems quite weird to have two separate skin folders illepall ... If the viewer ain't supposed to be installed in the LFS folder, then it for sure should have a configuration/settings part that the user might specify the skin path in...

OK, seems to work as you implied .

But, I wonder: Sure it must be a dedihost bug that the status line in the host file isn't changed to offline...? If that is corrected we wouldn't have the problem in the first place...?

Sounds gr8

Thanks, Vortex - will dl again 'n' check it out! Much obliged!

About the 2nd issue, you maybe should have some kind of collaboration with the creator of LFS Spectator...? Maybe in "the good for the LFS community" or something ?

Btw, I would appreciate a Join! and Specatate! link beside the LFS hostname... The former to start LFS and the latter to start LFS Spectator... Is that achievable... In version 2, maybe ?

OK, but this means that the curren version 1.6 doesn't work at all since it reports "Server offline" whether the host is offline or not... Will you withdraw the 1.6 release for now, then, and maybe just release a 1.5b version with the separate setup/config file...?

Hehe, ain't that a contradiction or are you gonna work "on the other side of life" as well ?

No sweat... Just fun to test .

I'll be back tomorrow at noon I think... Peace out .

OK - bam, bam ... consider yourself shot, then !

1] Good news: Offline works
2] Bad news: Online does not

At least one of the two servers is online, but both turn up as Offline...illepall Check it out...!

Sry, it hangs all time high now ... As I use the Stop button in the browser I jus get Server is offline all over the place... Looks like some kind of iteration loop or something...

Check it out

Sorry, got: Parse error: parse error, unexpected '{' in /home/xxx/public_html/.../server.php on line 128

And, mmm... for security reasons, you maybe should create an index file that doesn't allow browsing of the script folder...?
