A 6 round mini championship using only RWD cars and all based around the fast and flowing Aston circuit. Starting slowly with the crazy MRT’s at the shortest Aston configuration and ending with the BF1 at Aston Grand Prix.
1. Info about the cup: The Aston RWD Cup is a short 6 round league where we will visit the various layouts of Aston in a variety of RWD only cars. Each round is to consist of 2 races. A short sprint race followed by a longer feature race. A 15 minute qualifying session will set the grid for the sprint race, the feature race will use the sprint race results to set the grid.
There is no registration required, just turn up and race!!
3. Other info: Sprint race: In the sprint race there will not be a mandatory pitstop. It is called a sprint race for a reason: a sprint from start to finish.
Feature race: In the feature race there will be 1 mandatory pitstop. A pitstop window will be set from lap 2 to the 2nd last lap. If you pit in the first or final lap this stop will not count as a mandatory stop and you will still have to make your mandatory stop within the pit window.
Length of Qualification – 15 minutes long. Length of Sprint Race – ~20 minutes long. Length of Feature Race ~ 40 minutes long.
In my defense it isn't actually straight at that bit of the track although it's generally treated as a straight . It may have been the backdraught from the GTR that just passed me at warp factor 6 that caused my wobble....whatever it didn't end well for either of us :ashamed:.
As for the chat....apologies if we used it more than was acceptable, we did try to keep it to an absolute minimum. We did take the decision to enter at the last minute and spent the time we had available trying to get a setup we were all happy with and also work out strategies and who was available when etc....you all know about trying to get thing organised I'm sure. This meant that we didn't really have time to sort out TS for this time...a bit of a poor excuse maybe but we have certainly learned something for future races.
In general though I really enjoyed the race, although I think I spent more time looking in my mirror than I did looking ahead....constant blue flags . Maybe the speed differential is too great between the GTR500's and the GTLights....just a comment. The most difficult to deal with were the 'stealth' GTR500's....you know, the one's that were behind on laps and were unlapping themselves. You don't get the luxury of a 'Blug Flag' before these babies fly by .
That was me spinning out of control on the back straight :ashamed: I lost it trying to keep out of the way of the car in front of you and collected you as I spun out......sorry about that. At least it gave you a nice replay :sorry:.
And that was us with the Code 0 etc. You're right...we don't have TS so tried to keep chat to minimum while still keeping in contact for driver changes etc. Hope we didn't violate any rules here .
Also, are the replays of the race posted anywhere? I forgot to save them in my rush to change driver.....would be grateful if someone could post it.
As long as you compete in three races you can apply to join the closed league. You don't have to finish every race before you apply. Although the reasons why you didn't finish may effect the decision to let you in .
Put in a request and the Board of Trustees will take a look......good luck .

Will there be an announcement soon about the format for next season? Just asking as the S2 League is coming to a close in a few weeks time. We have built up the grids in this league and it would be a shame to lose that momentum.
I know what you are saying Michalxo and I do agreed up to a point. It can sometimes feel like really fast guys turn up for one race, thrash everyone and never turn up again. Maybe they are just trying to make a cheap point .
I think though that this is something we just need to live with if we want to keep the big grids in the S2 league. Everyone needs to start sometime and hopefully, if we offer a warm welcome and some good, fair racing they will stay and join the closed league too. Who knows...someone might even offer a challenge for Mazda .
