The Aston RWD Cup

A 6 round mini championship using only RWD cars and all based around the fast and flowing Aston circuit.
Starting slowly with the crazy MRT’s at the shortest Aston configuration and ending with the BF1 at Aston Grand Prix.

1. Info about the cup:
The Aston RWD Cup is a short 6 round league where we will visit the various layouts of Aston in a variety of RWD only cars.
Each round is to consist of 2 races. A short sprint race followed by a longer feature race.
A 15 minute qualifying session will set the grid for the sprint race, the feature race will use the sprint race results to set the grid.

There is no registration required, just turn up and race!!

General Absolute Beginner racing rules can be found here...

If anyone can help me/us to get the site running again, then please say so. I am not that good in php-stuff and the like.

Hi Bert, are you still needing help with this?

But let’s not narrow it down to my incident only… if it was only this, I probably wouldn't care.

What's your explanation on the scenes I added to my previous post when you took out your team's nGT because you had no intention to lift off the throttle to the slightest?

What about this?

Ah....i was wondering who hit me there.

I was more than a bit annoyed when this happened. You could have waited a couple of seconds then you could have easily passed on the straight before the next chicane. Lucky for me I landed rubber side down after rolling about 4 times and the damage wasn't too bad.

For me this was wreckless driving with no regard for the little guys in the NGT's.

If you look closely in that last pic, I'm giving him the finger

Quote from Wilko868 :I did 7 hours in that race, 4 and a half straight. Nature called so I had to hand over 1 and a half hours from time. Great race everyone, well driven.

The subject of your bladder size was mentioned on our IRC chats . We though you were never gonna stop....or maybe do a 'Coulthard' .

Quote from hyntty :I don't understand how you can spin on a straight but oh well.

In my defense it isn't actually straight at that bit of the track although it's generally treated as a straight . It may have been the backdraught from the GTR that just passed me at warp factor 6 that caused my wobble....whatever it didn't end well for either of us :ashamed:.

As for the chat....apologies if we used it more than was acceptable, we did try to keep it to an absolute minimum. We did take the decision to enter at the last minute and spent the time we had available trying to get a setup we were all happy with and also work out strategies and who was available when etc....you all know about trying to get thing organised I'm sure. This meant that we didn't really have time to sort out TS for this time...a bit of a poor excuse maybe but we have certainly learned something for future races.

In general though I really enjoyed the race, although I think I spent more time looking in my mirror than I did looking ahead....constant blue flags . Maybe the speed differential is too great between the GTR500's and the GTLights....just a comment. The most difficult to deal with were the 'stealth' GTR500's....you know, the one's that were behind on laps and were unlapping themselves. You don't get the luxury of a 'Blug Flag' before these babies fly by .

Quote from Bean0 :I think a few of the teams have no VOIP so are asking for people to join to take over in the chat.

Here's a small 'Fraps'd replay, for the lulz' from my stint...

http://www.conceptracing.net/bean0/spin.avi

That was me spinning out of control on the back straight :ashamed: I lost it trying to keep out of the way of the car in front of you and collected you as I spun out......sorry about that. At least it gave you a nice replay :sorry:.

And that was us with the Code 0 etc. You're right...we don't have TS so tried to keep chat to minimum while still keeping in contact for driver changes etc. Hope we didn't violate any rules here .

Also, are the replays of the race posted anywhere? I forgot to save them in my rush to change driver.....would be grateful if someone could post it.

Thanks.

Quote from vicbel :I started in three but only finished one. So I guess I'll have to wait two more. Thanks for the answer.

As long as you compete in three races you can apply to join the closed league. You don't have to finish every race before you apply. Although the reasons why you didn't finish may effect the decision to let you in .

Put in a request and the Board of Trustees will take a look......good luck .

Will there be an announcement soon about the format for next season? Just asking as the S2 League is coming to a close in a few weeks time. We have built up the grids in this league and it would be a shame to lose that momentum.

Quote from Michalxo :"I would like to join this event>>here (SO6/FBM) if possible "

When he stays for longer period (season or so) I have no protest, but if only this one race, I say no... We saw that many times... new guy, fast in 1 event.. accidentally crash some other ppl, ruin they races and no more show up.....

I know what you are saying Michalxo and I do agreed up to a point. It can sometimes feel like really fast guys turn up for one race, thrash everyone and never turn up again. Maybe they are just trying to make a cheap point .

I think though that this is something we just need to live with if we want to keep the big grids in the S2 league. Everyone needs to start sometime and hopefully, if we offer a warm welcome and some good, fair racing they will stay and join the closed league too. Who knows...someone might even offer a challenge for Mazda .

It would appear that Sweptech is even slower at producing the results than he is at driving .

Only kidding take your time we've got all year

There has been much talk of foul deeds and general naughtyness during this weeks race meeting at Aston Cadet so I though I would at least try to redress the balance by highlighting some 'Gentlemen Racers' in the Red Mist Racing team.

I had the pleasure of battling with JustinGT5 in the early stages of race 2 and later on with U41K STB. Both racers showed both excellent car control during close racing and awareness of who was around (for the most part ).

It can be difficult, in the heat of battle, to admit that another racer has the better line or quicker exit and easy to think 'I'm going to keep my foot down' or 'I'm just going to turn in'. This usually ends up with both drivers spinning off and a post race slagging match. I was nice to race with guys that could realise that they had lost the corner and would yield it to the other driver (usually coming back on the next corner ).

At this point I should probably apologise to U41K for getting a little too defensive coming out of the last corner on one lap ...sorry . Never said I practice what I preach.

Anyway, on to the next round....congrats to the winners this time round...may your clutches burn out and your next turd be a hedgehog!!

Quote from travyd :Awesome. Look forward to racing again! Doing consistent 54s with a 53.69 as a pb with the ballast, funnily enough the same time as CSF. Shaping up for a good round!

Sounds like you be wanting some more ballast.

Quote from gremwood :Well I'll be there on Saturday, and since I'm there...

For those of you with the tail issues: There's a trick with this combo, in the UF1, you want to be aggressive. On/Off throttle gaps should be as quick as possible, as needed. As soon as you turn in and there's oversteer, you want to even out, stay on the throttle, then adjust also as needed.

Shhhh!! Don't tell everyone
