Thank you for the update. Forget moaners, they are annoyingly more vocal than the vast patient majority.

Thanks for the updates, and for the gentle sarcasm at the nth mindless DX9/XP bashing post

On the positive side, you get to feel like a teacher... educating masses is a job that requires dedication!

Bought it, sales got me. Any tips for a newcomer? G25 settings, apps to get, setups database?

Thanks

Thanks to the development team, not only for the update but also for the progress report!

We know it takes some courage to post anything related to future / plans / next releases in here...

I am pleased with the overall positive and constructive attitude of my fellow LFSers in this thread - it's been a long time since the silent majority was not so silent, and I'm looking forward to driving the new Westhill

I believe all of you around here do NOT exist. You are imaginary people, created by my imagination. I therefore must be god (or his dog).
Note to self: I have to remember why I created creationism.

Unless I am myself an imaginary being created by your imagination?

Thanks Scawen for the honest report.

This thread did not go as low as expected, frustration exists - that also shows some people around here have enough hope and expectations to keep pushing and posting, despite a lack of reserve and social education making them resort to sarcasm or plain abuse.

I am happy to learn there will be new stuff added to LFS, I still enjoy races and will gladly pay for more (also more than 12£ for S3, I think your pricing model could do with an update considering the price/achievements ratio of your competitors).

Time is short for us all, so I'll keep looking towards the Kunos gang as well. No pressure

Thank you for the sim as it is, keep it up!

But apparently not for Scawen

That model developed by Michelin looks awesome : http://www.ipg.de/index.php?id=tametire&L=2

But price is also awesome...

Nice read!
However it does not seem to be able to do real time calculations, from my browsing.
That is if I remember correctly where Scawen got stuck: he was first to create a mathematical "testing bench", that could not work real time due to the complexity of the simulation.
From there he would simplify the system to allow real-time calculation, while keeping it close to his "bench" results.
No idea where he is at the moment, but his last post on this topic did show meshes and tire flex from his "bench":

We are not necessarily over 60!
We do think races are better when we respect each other, so it may be why more mature racers find it enjoyable.
That does not mean we will just let you pass easily... except for Nilex because he is way faster in the mighty XFG.

Did you know?

The last versions of LFS allow you to use 3 virtual screens, even on a 1 monitor display. You can use a main screen FOV that is low, and add 2 virtual screens angled from the main (the angle will determine your total FOV).
This gives you the benefit of low FOV for the center of the screen and quite wide view to see what is going on around your car.

Example: main screen 35° FOV
Screen angle 5°
Multiple screen layout 1 - 1 - 1
That gives you a total FOV around 90°

Count me as interested... waiting for the netcode testing though, as the nkp always suffered there.

An alternative is to setup the "button control rate" to a different value according to the car power.
This value creates a ramp to your button inputs - unfortunately all of them, but it is very easy to setup.

This ranges from 1 to 10, and typically for XFG 10 is not a problem ,while with the LX6 you may want to use 4-6 to prevent spinning and lockups.

Time flows... more nice drivers go missing, less hair grow on your head (no worries, more in your ears to compensate).

I also miss the mighty moose, biohazard and many more. If you are still here and active, then it's time for you to step up and educate the padawans!

In the meantime come back racing, this week is MRT on Aston whatever reverse with the eau rouge lottery fun.

An ironic thread started by a merican... ok, surprising.
But everybody around here trying to make sense of it?

Methinks it must be a side effect of global warming. Although it's pretty cold out there today, so...

I see (or imagine I see) a difference when spectating a relatively laggy car:

It seems that with B6 the car is jumping around (a few virtual cm) much more often than with the previous version. It could be the side effect of an improved netcode, making the updates to the car position more frequent because independent - or it could be only in my confused brain.

Could someone else observe and confirm?
Edit: attached replay, watch rim66 car

Apart from that quick connect / disconnect / spectate with no issue, even while uploading stuff to cripple my connection.

No need to buy S2 to try it, that's where LFS is better than competition.
Add as many AI cars as you dare (they are CPU intensive, more than online racing) and join the race from the back of the grid. You will easily see what your computer can handle reaching Turn 1...

It's a nicely put answer, but it raises a problem:

Some time (years...) ago, here on the forum there were ideas, knowledge, and exchange.
Now it feels like it's a cat chasing its tail, going round and round lap after lap.
Knowledgeable sources are gone (or gone silent, because of the ambient noise?).

Did LFS grow too much so that the original userbase (aka fanbois) is extinct / drowned in spam?
Did you, Scawen, or the other devs find out that you do not need ideas or input from outside any more, because you are old enough to know what you are doing, and because the problems you now face are too complex to share?

I appreciate reading from you and Victor from time to time, and love the test patches times but it seems that this forum is not like we are invited for a drink and chat in your house any more - it seems that it does not belong to the dev team any more, and lives a life on its own.

Maybe I'm getting older as well... thanks for the news and for LFS as it is, and please keep us posted about tyres as well!

Quote from Hyperactive :The best solution for a car is to have as soft chassis as possible. This combined with the center of gravity being in the middle allows you to take tight hairpins without any steering as the car will go around the corner like a snake.

+1
You made my day, thanks!
