Quote from Scawen :For me, having a good life and plenty of free time to do the things I like is far more important than being rich. If being rich was a high priority there are many other jobs I could have done, and probably would have had to work 9 to 10 hours a day and only have a few holidays a year. But what's the point in that? So I could wear a fancy watch or clothes with logos on them so other people would be impressed? I don't get it. Life has to be about doing the things you like to do, not wasting money on expensive crap to show off to other fools.

Well said, in today's world, everyone seems to be obsessed with being rich and famous, success, fame, luxury.
Then they get depressed because the life they have is meaningless and dull, they have money but lack happiness, they turned into machines and forgot to be human.

Society forces us into being robots, follow orders, get money to make you feel like it was worth it.
its scary how hard it is to be happy and survive with enough money to get the things you want.

Quote from AfterAll14 :You don't need "educational videos" to play the game. If you can't figure out how to do somehing within the game - it's a game problem.

What sims did you even play to say that, lfs is by far one of the easiest sims to understand.
Assetto corsa's interface is similar to rfactor...1 witch is very bad for the time they have between them, the only rediming thing in AC is the live hud changes you can do.
Iracing is so focused on online racing that there is little fun factor to it, like just running arround, and doing drifts or whatever.
LFS is easy to understand, hard to master.

wholesome comment, but why do you say that?

Quote from TwinySkyline :You must be new here. The cost problem has already been adressed, or at least time has been given to it and stuff's been tried. I wouldn't dare and say anything regarding its efficiency, I don't have any statistics to look at. Add to that the unorthodoxal nature of certain resellers, who were one of the bridges to solving the cost problem.

The developpers said many times they won't put LFS on steam. Personnally, I do believe it's a shame and I hardly see any good reason not to from a marketing standpoint; however know that the current demo/license system is hardly compatible with the overall customer climate instilled within the steam community. Sure, we, people who already play LFS, won't have any problem with it, but things might go otherwise to the new, uninformed, customer. So that's one thing that would need to be amended. Then there are the beliefs of the devs.
As for advertising in itself, currently the idea is that the community can do that by themselves. In other words they don't really care about this part of the spectrum.

By the way, nice necroposting.

you are correct, i am new here.
this type of selling the game could be easily implemented on steam, the s packs can be considered dlc, i know that steam takes a considerable amount of the profits, but if done correctly, putting the game on steam could be a way to sprite it back to life.
as for the tf2 conundrum, opening the game to new people is never a bad idea, sure, we can get a worse online experience, but we have servers that already work to make the crashers get insta kicked, and i have seen servers where you can actually crash other people, because that is the objective.

take i racing for example, it is on steam, bit weird i know, but i dont hear about it ruinning the experience, granted, it is a more serious nature sim, aimed for "true" simracers, the point with this being that they sell the licence on steam for 10€, but you still buy the content on their shop, like rfactor2 does with the cars they have (i do not agree with that business model tho".

thx for the reply, and if im correct, necroposting is posting on an old thread?

Quote from Flotch :I think ACC is to only provide GT3 cars, so not even GT2 ...
AC is great, but is clearly disturbing me aswell on many aspects ... This is why I am still and will remain focused on LFS : developers may not be very quick to provide plenty of things compared to some other game companies, but in the end you get something at a very high quality level, speaking about how are implemented all the features. And this is priceless (and even cheaper than other simulations)

Could not agree more.
Here is to hopefully LFS becoming more popular again.

Quote from Scawen :I'm not sure how many times I will need to repeat that I do intend to encrypt the master server protocol to improve security. Maybe if I say it 100 times, you will believe me? I expect not - you'll only believe it when you see it. Well, that is fine, but you don't need to keep making negative comments about how the devs don't seem to care about piracy and so on.

In that case, the devs don't care about physics. The devs don't care about graphics. The devs don't care about tracks. The devs don't care about cars. Yes, we do, and we are working on them, but it takes time. I'd be grateful if you could learn a little patience, and understand that YOUR priority does not rank about everyone else's priorities.

Each time one person goes on about their own personal priority, we can't just stop everything else we are working on, just to try and shut you up. Please, be a bit more mature and have some PATIENCE!

Just want to get my 2 cents on this topic, even if you don't see this.
Gabe Newell said on record that the problem with cracking games is not because they are expensive, the problem exists because the service provided/ product does not justify the cost for it.
What i mean with this is, the crackers are not something to be worried with (to the scale people are making) because if the game is good, people will buy it without feeling ripped off.

In sum, keep developing the game, make it as good as it has ever been, when the time comes, advertise it on social platforms, or sell it on a wider market (if well implemented, steam can be a good option)
Hackers most of the time want to check if the game is worth their money, witch is understandable as long as they keep stuff offline.

Quote from versis :There definitely won't be a backport of these features because the engine of AC simply doesn't support this. Anyways, I see ACC as a single-series proof-of-concept-product for an upcoming AC2. Which is great, because I dig the non-GT3 cars in AC and can use my investment* in AC a little longer, hoping that SimRacingSystem will continue to provide their wonderful service for AC also when ACC is complete.

*AC is one third of my total gaming investments, given that LFS, AC and Automobilista are the only games I bought in my whole life, I don't count nowadays virtually 0€ sims like GTR2 and RBR. Yes, you can call me a sim racing fan.

It has been said that AC wont get more updates, and this is the final stage it will have.
I think its a bit unfare, i paid 60€ for a game that does not have a decent chat client, a decent on the move settings manager (i like to mess with my ffb setting on the fly, and AC has a very detailed ffb manager), and i cant change the grafics settings on the fly.
These things should be there from the start, and they are never coming to it.
ACC will have a niche market, only gt2 cars, no drifters, or more interesting cars.
at this point Raceroom will be mutch better, they only develop competition cars, and they do it for many years, and it works well enouth.
sry for my english, i dont write mutch

Quote from Racon :When you do a fresh install, or update versions, the install is locked, ie, a demo install. You have to use your username/password to unlock your licence level, but you only have 3 unlocks. You get a new one each week, up to a max of three. If you need more than than due to repeated re-installs, you can email the devs with an explanation for them to reset your unlock count.

oh i see.
this should only be a problem if i was to log in my friends pc more than 3 times a week i guess.

thanks for the fast reply

Quote from Yukesekai :Updated to 0.6T. Someone above already asked this but it was not answered properly. How to remove the lfs.net logo/watermark from the top left of the screen while in game?

Before the update it wasn't there. I had my FPS showing on that side but now I can only set my FPS to be shown on the top right.

And also any idea when Pro tweaker will be updated to work with 0.6T? It's hard to drift nicely with the stock XRG...

i know it sucks for me to say this, but if you like the game support the devs by buying a licence.
its not that expencive, and you will get more content as time goes on.

Quote from Yisc[NL] :Scawen is the developer and Eric is the graphics artist.
So two people are working on LFS.
The whole team has 3 people, since Victor is the one doing the technical side of things (website, forum, etc.)

Thanks for the reply, that seems to be a very small Dev team.
I suppose they don't have more so to keep employment costs at a low.
Very impressive what a 3 member Dev team did over these years

So this crossed my mind some time ago, why dont we ask the devs to put this game on steam, so we can have a bigger player base, and a bit more money to the devs work with.
i think it would be a good move scince this game is a masterpiece of a simulator and quite unknown too.
ill leave it like this, we get this on steam to get more attencion, include de s1,s2,s3 pacages as dlc, and then we shall see if it works.
