this isn't trolling .. it's just an opinion that needs to be said.
if you announce that a new installer will be used and post screenshots which show file extension assosiation AND on top of the say you need to unlock the game again it is definately counter intuitive to assume the game will still support backup folders or allow unzipping.

microsoft have their actice sync mandatory for ipaq handhelds. software can only be "installed" that way. which by the way is not needed because the .cab files just need to be moved to the device.

it is completely rubbish for a developer to fill the systems of users with unnessesary software.

it IS the best racing game out there. so why go ahead and do this? at least don't make it effin' mandatory!

by the way: file extension assosiation is also done by using ... wait for it ... registry entries.

also i haven't come across any software that uses an installer and still works after OS reinstall just by using the created folder ...

if that was the only entry then there would be NO reason to introduce the installer. "... to make it easier for some people ..." yeah, so hard to create a folder and unzip the package.

final thought: if that's to hard, maybe computer games are not for you!

To NOT have an installer was one of the best things of this game! where else can you find a program/game who doesn't srew around in your frickin' registry. OS crashed? complete reinstall? no problem just "copy -> paste" and you're good to go. Well not anymore. Thank you so much for THAT.

yeah, that's what i meant.
of course racing online is fun. even without being in a league. but when a race is over and one made it to position 3 after a loooong time of trying and practise, it would be nice to see somekind of reward.
i looked at ctra the other day(quite complicated, i think). i tried to join one of their servers and after some minutes of waiting i could join. but when i wanted to take part in the race i was told that the race was already full.
so that system they have is all good and well but the limited no. of servers(and their capacity) is the biggest flaw of an "outside system", in my opinion.
i would appreciate it if a lfs-point/ranking system would be taken into consideration for one of the upcoming patches...

..maybe this thread should be moved to the "improvement section"

hi racers,

just a question i asked myself ... "whatever happened to the points system lfs used to have"
everytime you finished a race on an arbitrary server you would get points. not that these points were important for anything(i think) but it was nice to see some progress...
and since my job won't let me race on a regular basis(so i can't join a league) i was kinda wishing something like this would come back into the game.

maybe something to think about?

I'm playing LFS for quite a while now (just unlocked it last week, though),
and I was wondering if my skin is only visible to others if I upload it to lfsworld.
I'm asking because one league site I visited said to upload one's skin to their website. How could this be working?

of course we could send the unit back. but as it was said before, we might end up getting a new one which is even worse... kind of a high risk for such a minor(but still annoying) problem.
do you know for sure that it is just a microswitch problem which can be solved via DIY?

our problem is: we can't assign a button to the "reverse gear slot". it just recognizes that slot as "6th gear"

let's hope we find a definate solution soon!!!

hi everyone,

new racer here. and proud owner of a g25 wheel also. i read a little about that reverse gear problem. unfortunately i got the very same problem. and even more unfortunately i never found any solution for this.
so come on, can all of you apply every gear properly?
the mechanics seem to work perfectly. i can totally feel the stick being moved down ("under the 6th gear").
i found some pics about how to open the shifter... i don't wanna do that unless absolutely nessesary. also, they don't show what to look for!

please, someone find a solution. because besides that, the wheel is perfect!

p.s. logitech support was no help either. here's what they wrote to me:

However, the gear will get active and work properly within the game when used. Also I would like to inform you that currently only the following games are supported by the G25 Racing wheel: GTR 2, rFactor and Live for Speed.

Also I would like to inform you that you will not be able to put the reverse gear unless and until you press straight down on the shifter handle while you move the shifter into the 6th gear position. Please press the gear a bit inside and then try changing the gear to reverse gear and you should be able to change the gear to reverse without hassles.

If the issue persists or should you have any other queries, please do not hesitate to write back to me.
