Quote from 5haz :Too much of this issue is based on 'they' and 'in general'.

Exactly.

I've never crashed, either on a bike or in a car.

Nor have any of my friends (I don't hang around with idiots who think it's funny to go roundabout bashing, and it's very easy to do here in Milton Keynes).

Whereas nearly all of the females I know have had to make several claims, one trashed 3 cars and had put more than a few dents in the fourth in a single year.

One crashed into a bus stop, another one went through the front of the local beer shop.

Surprised no one has mentioned the scientific fact that women lack spacial awareness when compared to males...

Kinda important to have when you're driving.

Yeah, most young males crash due to them being lairy, but most females crash because they lack the raw understanding of where to be at certain times.

Looks like I'm the only one who agrees with this hike in insurance for females.

Quote from hazaky :BC2 and MOH use the same engine afaik. So explain me the difference, why does MOH run twice as fast as BC2 runs? The engine does not set the intensitivity.fancy stuff.

I can answer this one.

BC2 has Destruction 2.0. Fences crumble, buildings get holes in them and the landscape alters with explosions.

MoH does not. Yeah, it runs on FB1.5, just like BC2, but it not using D2.0 saves on a lot of processing. Map size is also a factor, the small and tight maps of MoH can't compare to BC2's maps.

The BC2 expansion, Vietnam also shows this. Small maps + no D2.0 (Check the wooden fences for proof, shoot them in BC2, separate planks fall off, in 'nam... nothing) = moar FPS.

But I'm guessing BF3 will run better than BC2 does, seeing as they're making the PC version its main focus (Battle for Operation Hastings PC VICTORY) so they'll put a lot of work into optimising it for us.

And console guys, don't bother with BF3, you'll be wasting your time as you'll just get a really watered down version of the PC version. A lowly 24 players online, low textures (although that's what console BC2 uses, PC Low settings with bloom and HBAO enabled), and restricted maps.

(level 47 BC2 PC soldier BTW, add me up, "Syfoon")

Filterset.G was discontinued a long ass time ago, and the adblock plus developer has said repeatedly that the Filterset.G rule block should be removed.

Ah.

I stopped using FF a long ass time ago

Somewhere in the preferences there's an option for Winamp Agent. Turn that crap off.

All it does is reassign lost file associations. Just tell it not to run and remove the associations and they won't come back.

Quote from ajp71 :3/4 of the population are illegal aliens (obviously non-white, most likely dirty Muslims in the eyes of nasty little racists) yet 70% of Croydon's population is white?

I live on a street that is largely Asian at my end and Caribbean at the other, I'd still have thought 50% of the street is white though. I feel absolutely safe walking about at night where I live. The only race of people I do fear where I live is the pikey, always flag waving, always white and always trying to off load anything they can into the back of their transit pickup, they stole somebody's garden knomes recently!

A couple of streets away you get into the predominately white area full of the typical 'they took our jobs' EDL/BNP/NF flag waving scum. If the majority white population actually tried giving others a chance you'd find they're mostly perfectly nice people a lot of whom speak better English than you and are about as interested in blowing you up as claiming your benefits. It's the legal immigrants working and paying their taxes that allow the white benefit club to sit outside the local all day.

If you persecute your minorities then of course they're not going to like you, if you beat a dog with a stick do you not expect it to bite? This ridiculous 'patriotism' is a much bigger threat to our country than Muslim extremism. The simple folk have turned from being the school bully to trying to orchestrate genocide, of course they're too stupid to succeed but cause a lot of damage in the process.

Are you saying that being patriotic is a precursor to persecution?

From your post, it seems like you're saying that if I wear an England shirt, hang a St Georges Cross out of my window or put one of those annoying flags on my car, that I might as well just join the BNP and go out p**i-bashing. Nor do I understand how you compare patriotism of ones country to religious extremism.

There's nothing wrong with being patriotic. I'm guessing you're one of those chaps who thinks St Georges Day shouldn't be a public holiday...

I'll be proudly wearing my England shirt come June.

It wasn't aimed at you.

Nice and mature too, it was for Dan as I know he's a fellow DJ, so he'd see the funny side.

A simple tl;dr would have sufficed. 10 points for acting like a grown up.

Quote from danthebangerboy :Lol, stopped the wrong turntable, sent the fader to the wrong deck while mixing a track in coz i forgot which side i was supposed to be going to, took the needle off the wrong record, left the other channel up when cueing/beat matching, knocked into one of the decks and made it jump mid-mix, had a mix ready to go but somehow knocked the tempo up from 33 to 45, or from 45 to 33 and then having to start again, running out of record coz i thought there was one more vocal part or something to come and go and then i could start the mix when the beat comes back from that, but the last one was the LAST one, the same thing, much less record left than i thought, so i panic and grab the nearest choon to hand and do a horrid mix where im forever correcting the speed mid mix (which is bad), or it clashes like hell coz the track im attempting to mix really doesnt go well with the one thats playing...

I have done all those at one time or another over the years lol , but the people listening were usually too wrecked to notice or care, that or they were being kind by not mentioning anything

But, by FAR the WORST one i do every now and again is where i have a kind of mental moment (usually when im out of practice) when i have a mix on the go, the speed is right but its 'out' a bit, but i cant hear if its behind or ahead for some stupid reason, only slightly, just a minor correction one way or the other is needed, already all speed matched, i have just let go of the record to early or too late, so i think yeah its ahead (or visa versa), but i go the wrong way and make it worse, clashy hideous beats everywhere, requiring a big correction the right way once its happened, which i usually over correct coz im well pissed off by this point.

Ahaha, I think we're all guilty of some serious messups

I haven't touched vinyl in a very long time, I've forgotten what it's like to ride an analogue pitch, but I know what you mean about struggling to lock a beat when in a rush.... so glad I switched to CDJs

Another DJ messup would be when me and my buddy (RIP) were playing at the piss-up haven that was the Southside Bar in London. We were playing an mishmash set spanning breaks, tech, trance and hard, and we had a few "key" tunes to switch genres with. Was fairly drunk and had just had my mix, so I dipped into the CD box, but thirst suddenly struck me so I jumped out of the booth and headed towards the bar, pushed through the crowd () ordered us each a pint.

Back in the box I get, mate hands me the 'phones and I go looking for one of those important tunes... not there.

Manage to bodge a mix, but we're still on the genre that we were before, and we stayed there for a few more mixes, while both of us go MENTAL trying to remember if we burnt it, if it was left in the CDJs at home or if we lost it. With a stroke of luck, the promoter had the tune on vinyl so we used that, but it really messed us up.

Anyway, last mix, by this time I'm fairly mullered, and while 'avin' it I fell out of the booth, right onto my arse.

I struggle up to my feet and feel something jabbing me, I dip into my back pocket and there it is, the tune we spent about 20 minutes looking for, in several pieces

FYI, our final tune, after some thunderous 155bpm filthy UK hard trance was "Phil Oakley - Together in Electric Dreams"

My own "Damn, what a belm" story is DJ related.

Every DJ has probably done at least one of these TBH, but, I digress.

Was playing a hardstyle set (not my usual playing out style), and I had accidently burnt a short 3 min version of a track instead of the full DJ version, and it suddenly... stopped. Somehow managed to save myself and pull a mix out of my arse though!

Doesn't stop there... I was cueing up a track later on in the same set, and I stopped and ejected the track that was playing, as I got a bit confused and still had music going through my ears. The whole crowd just "Wheeeey!"'d at me, and I hid my face in my hands.

I haven't played any more hardstyle sets since

So tasty foreign chicks appear out of nowhere and you brush them away, then call them c***s?

Those exchange student kinds are the best, especially if they're up for it, as there's no real chance that you're gonna bump into them on the Northern Line 3 years later...

Quote from lukelfs :I don't see the problem that everyone has with Recon's..

If your team is full of them then just find another server or play with some friends..

Same.

Sure some people play it wrong (hiding in bushes on the edge of the map, taking out enemy "snipers" in bushes on the other side of the map), but there are people who play recon properly, defending an armed MCON from next building and C4ing that tank which is sitting on the capture point...

It's also a fun class to play with the auto shotty, hide behind a wall, pop out and shoot folk in the face

I've been playing a lot of hardcore mode.

So much fun flanking the bush wookies and blitzing whole groups of them with a single clip of assault rifle ammo. Proper combat is much nicer too, less of a DM feel. Finally got Marksman AR which makes things a fair bit nicer.

I'm still rubbish though, and I have no friends to kill

Quote from Roadie :Jealous?

Yes

Quote from Roadie :Most people would created some kind of backup or RAID 5 or RAID 1 array after the first failure for sensitive data.

I'd have loved too, I was a poor student during my first loss, and, er, in a hole during the second, so a nice backup like that was completely out of the question

Quote from Roadie :Ah, getting somewhere. I'm assuming you have some kind of backup on that pc too? Like a mirror of your drive incase that one fails. Hard drive failures are pretty common. Also, DVD's aren't a reliable form of backup.

Yup. And there's another backup of the most sensitive stuff on my mothers computer... she only uses about 50GB, so I may as well use it. Could be a bit of a pain in the arse should I need to access it...

Quote from Roadie :Glad you have the time to waste, want to share some?

I'll cost you

But really, just trying to help, no need to get all defensive.

Classic. I considered doing that once when I was younger. I resorted to just dying my hair blue, but that got boring so I started wearing a huge blue fluffy hat (named Terry, seriously) everywhere instead.

Wow, you can multiquote, go you!

Re: data corruption; you obviously mistake me for someone who gives a toss.

I'm not just some stupid 13 year old kid who's flicking options in his PCs BIOS to see what happens. I've been producing music for about 11 years now, and in that time I've lost all of my stuff twice. Samples, my own presets and my working files, all gone. Both times I've pretty much been physically sick as both times it's been YEARS of hard graft down the toilet.

I've learnt my lesson, so with my old PC, which is still in fighting form, I built myself a nice little fileserver which sits in the corner of my studio running Ubuntu. EVERY SINGLE BYTE of important data, all my samples, presets, working files, VST installs, remix folders (and even my LFS install!) etc, live on Spudgun (thats my old PC's name, new one is called "Dave Hedgehog" (anyone get that reference?)) on his 750GB of space. And the MAJORLY important stuff is backed up on a spindle of DVDs, just in case...

So meh, the HDD on this PC might frazzle, no big loss. All I'll have lost my DiRT2 savefile and the 30 or so minutes it takes to install Windows XP. Big whoop. Like I'd risk losing my method of earning a few pennies every now and then...

Oh, and I double-checked, PCI-e is at 115mhz, not 125. My memory part of my brain is broken. I blame the years of drug abuse.

Quote from Roadie :that pcie clock.. lower it now. serious.

Err, no.

It's fine. Did you know that more then few videocards set the PCI-e bus to 125mhz themselves?

Some nVidia's highend 8, 9 and GTX series do, as well as some ATI cards.

I get better performance benchmarks, no hit in stability, no erroneous readings, no hassle at all. The GPU runs and deals with things a considerable bit faster TBH.

Raising the PCI-e bus came from a very, very trusted source with years of serious overclocking experience (In fact, he specced my machine up for me with parts that are deliberately OCable), so I'm more likely to listen to his advice them some guys in a small hardware section on a driving sim forum

Quote from logitekg25 :my CCC is different? there is no "displays manager" so i go into "desktops and displays"

there if i right click on it there is no "stretch desktop 1 horizontally onto digital panel"

so i go into my windows, and it is configured how it looks in CCC, but there are options, they are duplicate, extend, show desktop only on 1, or show desktop only on 2. not sure how this works, but i do know how to configure in lfs

Are you using the latest drivers? 10.4 was released the other day. Grab the one with the CCC packaged with it and you should see the same thing as me, I'm using a 5xxx card too
