Hi all - I've upgraded to the S3 licence and launched LFS. I locked back to demo version and then unlocked but I've still only got the S2 licence. How do I activate S3 please?

I'm doing a Book a Track Caterham Hire soon and I want to get some practice in

This was my first race after a gap from event 4 and I really enjoyed it (pool 3).
Had some great battles lap after lap, DRobb, Sheepy, and especially S.Varjonen.

I found my setup seemingly quite different to that of others, S.Varjonen would be very very strong on the second half of the lap but I had the edge in the first half. I think my front diff should not have been locked which would have aided turn-in. I also looked after the tyres, 76-78 degrees was where I tried to keep it, far too easy to over drive this car. I made a couple of mistakes which forced the temps up to about 81 but backing off a little brought them down.

Pitstop I had left the 'repair' option on which took ages for some very minor suspension work left over from clattering a couple of kerbs.

Very enjoyably, regretful that I'd not been able to make all the races, but I'm looking forward to the last one - hope its something special!

Its not a question of being lazy, thanks for suggesting I'm lazy though, I do appreciate a public slagging.
Its more a matter that switching between modes 1) messes up my desktop icons, 2) horizontal span doesn't work with the software I use for work purposes.

I understand it is more a graphics card/driver/windows issue however I was interested in asking if there was a known way around this and if so could it be written in. However it seems that people may be put off asking questions and making suggestions to improve LFS when shot down in flames by the likes of you.

I wondered if it might be considered to add more monitor / desktop modes (if possible?)

Ah I see. I think I'll leave it then because that will mess up the other software I use.
Nice try though. Pity it isn't flexible.

(edit) - I just tried it, indeed my setup with the likes of Adobe Lightroom etc. are messed up with the Horizontal Span and its a pain to get back. So I'll stick to one monitor with LFS. Perhaps the devs might consider adding more modes.

In fact the MOST annoying thing when changing modes is that all my icons get messed up and slung over to the left hand side of the screen. AAARRGHH!!!!!! :scared:

Just trying the new patch with multi monitor setup. I have my display set to "Dual View" which means I get my desktop extended to the left onto another monitor.

I'm using Full Screen in LFS. I switched on the option to use 2 monitors in LFS' options but my main display just showed a distorted image (like squashed onto the one monitor). So I switched to Windowed display (ALT-F4) and stretched it between the two. Immediately I got a crash to desktop.

My graphics card is an nVidia 8800GTS, driver 191.07 WHQL under WinXP Pro SP3.

Any ideas how I get it working in LFS?

I was in Pool 4, only about half the people who qualified finished the race
Though the tyres heat up very quickly if you slide it, I managed to keep damage away. Had a hot clutch at one time and had to back off but still managed a couple of good chases with other people. It was quite clean too.

One thing I noted were persistent T3 cutters, will there be penalties for blatantly cutting T3 (we were warned about it before the start)??

Ah I'd forgotten about the server layout, got practice confused with qually

Reminds me, must put in a qualifying lap tonight, been far too busy to do any more than 10 laps practice on the standard layout

Just a quick question, is the layout for qualy on event 4 mandatory? I've never used an alternate layout, how is it activated?

I had a reasonable race (pool 6), some good battles and a couple of scrappy moments (for those I apologise) but there was some good tight racing. I could have finished 1st or 2nd if it wasn't for some silly mistakes I made, lost a good 15 seconds of total time.

Just to get it clear, you're wanting a longer summer break?
Is this to fit in with school term or holidays away from home or something?

Just a small flaw with the 12th July, it is the same weekend as the German F1 Grand Prix. The organisers of the OLFSL clearly state that the dates of their races were selected to avoid GP weekends.

There have been times when some of us can't make a race (me on the last race for example ) but for the majority of people I'm taking a guess that the published OLFSL calendar works.

It saddens me to read some comments above. I think this league is utterly professional and as a result 1) I love the way it is run, 2) I love the hard-but-fair rules, 3) it brings a better class of racer who isn't likely to wreck, oh and 4) because its a professionally run league, please ban the children who sling personal insults.

I'm disappointed that the first race I had connection issues, then this last MRT race I qualified but couldn't race because of personal reasons Plenty more left though And congrats to the people finishing the last race, I wasn't looking forward to it if I'm honest.

What pool was that?

A pity we can't get this sort of report for all pools.

Just for info, my new broadband switches over on Friday, so hopefully I'll have nearly 2 days to sort it out before the race. I hope I have connection otherwise I won't be able to notify anyone I can't race!

I know how you feel, I tried a 15 lap race and finished 2 laps behind due to spins. This car is a b!tch.

One thing I noticed are the odd lines the AI take, especially the last corner which they take very wide.

And the first corner they have a shallow approach with a steel exit. I have to take that corner like a classic 'hairpin' where I come in hard on the brakes, turn late and let the car accelerate all the way through.

The left hander before the chicane is tricky too, do you brake before it or just lift and downshift?

Russraine - not cheap for me, the exchange isn't LLU so its still over £20 top line.

I'm leaving my ISP now, this was the last straw, got the MAC yesterday. I was with Nildram and I'm moving to O2 at the end of the month.

Flame - yeh I know, confusing. Maybe it should be called 'competitor number' because a 'number plate' is the front and rear plates

I don't use a skin, so is this 'competitor plate' mandatory?

As I say, maybe a good one for the FAQ?
