Computer specs for LFS.
Hello!
I decided to buy a new rig, but want to know how LFS will run at it (i will buy S2 too :really

Here are specs:
Quote :CPU: AMD ATHLON 64X2 5200+/ 2.7GHZ
RAM: 2Gb
GFX Card: GeForce 8500GT 512MB PCI-E
HDD: 500Gb
Motherboard: GA-M61SME-S2L GIGABYTE

If anyone have something like this, please, tell me how much fps LFS gets on it with max settings with full AA and AF (I am interested in average FPS with 1 car and average FPS with full grid (20 cars, because will buy t3h S2).

PostScriptum: Sorry for mine crappy english.
You will not have any problems, i guess. Me has worse specs and i run on 2x AA 8x AF with smooth frames on a racing grid with ~25 cars.
Did you try the demo for LFS?
i WANT to buy this PC, it is not currently mine.
What i think about is AMD processor, ppl says they are bad for games
AMD processors are fine, especially the 5000 series because they run cooler than the 6000 series. Intel just has the edge at the moment. Also, the 8500GT is massive fail for anything other than LFS, I would go for a 9500GT if I were you.
I have FX5200 on one of my desktops, so 8500GT will be great 4 me
I was thinking about 8800GT or GTS, but i am too limited with finances.

Easy , Buy a HDD 250gb save money with that and change the 8500 for 8600 GTS
Yes it will run good.

Mine is
CPU: PIV 2.8Ghz
RAM: 1Gb
GFX Card: Geforce 6600GT 128Mb
HDD: 110Gb
Motherboard: Asus P4P800S

I think you'll get around 25fps when there's lots of people. You may have lower fps with layous with lots of objects close to each other. Other than that it should be 40+ fps. You won't probably get more because of your CPU, because the Grafics card could handle much more. (or does that 64x2 mean it has 2 cores ??)

Don´t buy a 8500 GT! It´s a slow card and you won´t have much fun with it. Get at least a 8600 GT or better a 9600 GT.
I have the same, rig as you Little less ram, and same graphics card, i get 100fps useally, everymaxed but no aa/af
my second pc is a athlon 3200+ with 512 ram and a msi 8500gt with a little overclock on it. it runs pretty good i have to say for what it is. with ai and no aa or other stuff turned up i get 60 or so fps on it. not the greatest but its not bad. i would suggest buying an 8800gt since there so cheap now and my pc i use has an 8800gt and it plays a lot of things maxed out or high settings. i strongly suggest an 8800gt and skip the 8500 and 8600 completely.

Much beter, but I would get more ram
I don't think that you need more ram atm, and this conf. is waay better.
shadow, man liekas tev psu būs par īsu, drošības pēc varbūt paskaties kādu jaudīgāku, tikai neņem kkādu noname.

How much will you be paying for that rig? Although I'm only running demo at the moment, I highly doubt you will need more ram than 2gigs just to run LFS on high. Especially it being 1066MHz.

Some things to check before purchasing:

- How many RAM slots it has. If it's a pre-built from DELL, HP, etc, there's a good chance it will only have 2 and most likely 2x1GB sticks. This is fine until you want to upgrade meaning you will need to fork out money for either one 2GB stick or 2x2GB sticks then put the old RAM on eBay.

- If it's a pre-built, odds are, say goodbye to upgrading the graphics card. Dell especially, is bad for having a special form factor power supply. Most newer cards require at least a 400w PSU.

As a computer tech, nothing hurts me more than seeing someone overpay on a machine.
It will be built for request, i selected needed conf on website.

I maybe will get 520W PSU.

2 gigs should be enough, unless he's running vista. :biggrinfl

We all will use Vista in future... thats why 2gb ram is not enough

this e7200 $120
e7200: http://www.newegg.com/P ... aspx?Item=N82E16819115052

good ram $43
g.skill ddr800: http://www.new ... aspx?Item=N82E16820231098

quality psu $29 after mib and enough power for your needs

9600 gso asus top edition(best one) $65 after mib

biostar p35 motherboard $60 after mib. i had this motherboard and it was very nice. i paid $110 for it when it just came out and its very nice for the cheap.

500gb hard drive $55 after mib

ONLY $372(of course a few mail in rebates) for all of that which would be a badass computer for that cheap. add a few dollars for shipping cuz most of its free shipping and your good to go besides the case. i dont think you could get much cheap without getting rid of the quality of the build. let me know your price range that would help a lot.
But in latvia, all those parts are much, much more expensive.
