But the main problem for overtaking at the moment is high corner speed and short braking distances. So increasing mechanical grip is not a solution unless you address those problems by reducing downforce and braking power at the same time.

I expect we will see all the overtaking done in the pits as usual, or on straights due to better corner exits, but very little done in the braking zones.
There's been a fair bit of passing this year.
