Alright so I've had many versions of LFS and have never had any problems in the initial stages of the installation, however this time i get a message from the 7zip extractor saying something about the inability to work with an archive, now I am wondering what is the best way to fix this, redownload or is there a faster way?

I would say redownload and use a different mirror. If the file is corrupt, you may just redownload and it be corrupted again if you use the same mirror.
