Quote from Becky Rose :She cant do any worse than Button, or the last American to race in F1.

Scott Speed wasn't that bad. He wasnt Ide or Yoong, he had his moments. He just needed more support from the team imo
Quote from Luke.S :F1 requires an athletically built female driver. She is an athletically built female driver.

The petition for such an athletically built female driver in F1 is not to be confused with pornographic material, it merely stems from an innocent romantic teenage fantasy of casually getting a glimpse of her tender bosom.

Perhaps so, but still not convincing as a reason.

Quote from lizardfolk :Scott Speed wasn't that bad.

While it's true that at times he had help with his DNF exams - he mostly managed on his own.

just joking
hmmm... IndyCar is just some unimportant sidenote of motorsports in Europe. The only interest in IndyCar here in Germany is in the Indy 500... and only because they are celebrating with milk, while the german milk farmers protesting against the low prices of their products. As ChampCar drove more roadcourses then IndyCar does, it was more interesting for the european Motorsport community, i think...

Aditionally, when you think of Kathrine Legge, she's a backmarker in DTM actually. The only woman who drove well in DTM was Ellen Lohr, who's actually driving Dakar Rallies and too old for a propper F1-carear. Same for Claudia Hürtgen although I think she could drive a F1-Car relativlly fast. She drove ALMS, Rolex 24 at Daytona, 24h du Mans, won the German Productioncar Championship (Touring Cars after WTCC-rules) and was the first woman to win the VLN (an endurance championship driving only on the Nordschleife). Well Dannica Patrick would be great entertainment, but I'm afraid that nothing amarican can be compared to a F1 car. Although they are SingleSeater, it is just an "oval series" for most of normal-motorsports-interested European. And also I don't think Tony Georges likes the idea, loosing one of the best PR'd drivers of IndyCar to a Series with which he argued about the US Grand Prix @ Indy.
Well, if Honda want to give her a seat and the IRL try to get in the way they might find a problem with engine-sized gaps in the car ...
Danica Patrick is hardly an outstanding performer. F1 looks for outstanding performers - people who can get in the top one or two places in the championship ladder.

Even the slow ones in the F1 field were excellent in the lower categories - Formula Renault, Formula 3, World Series by Renault, GP2, F3000, etc. Most of the drivers in F1 were either champions in those categories or came close to it.

When Danica Patrick was in the Toyota Atlantics, she was 6th in 2003 and 3rd in 2004 without winning any races. In IRL, she has not stood out from her teammates and is sitting at a very distant 6th in the championship ladder... in her fourth season.

Talented? Yes. Talented enough? No.
the only reason she will drive is for marketing purposes. i do not see her as one of the 22 best drivers in the world and i surely see her not be able to compete in F1 as a podium or even points runner.

thats not because she es female, but just because the plain fact she only won 1 race in indycar so far... which is ... not enough for forumla 1 imo.

but maybe she is better on road-courses. who knows.
I've given this some more thought and arrived at the following two irrefutable truths:

1) She's better looking than Nelsinho.
2) Even in F1, someone's got to finish last.

I say give her the second Renault seat.
Quote from lefty :luke made danica overalls from towels and masturbates on them.

:o
Quote from thisnameistaken :Fair point, but it's that or this, you choose.

Danica in! Nelson out!

That is all I have to say on the matter. Well, that and I'm convinced that a random person off the street could beat Piquet anytime, anywhere. Probably not but he is atrociously bad and far worse looking than Danica.

In all seriousness though I'd rather only people who were really good were let into F1 as that's supposed to be how it works. I'm not sure she makes the grade but maybe she'll surprise us?!

well those 2 pics do roughly the same for me... and with a helmet on in a racing suit (which doesnt even turn transparent when sprayed with champagne) ... meh

Quote from thisnameistaken :F1 cars don't have doors. Nick Fry is a ****ing noob.

how about...em...like....the doors to the team headquaters......
Quote from JJ72 :how about...em...like....the doors to the team headquaters......

Don't be silly, that would be misleading as they're those automatic sliding ones - she'd end up going there, seeing them closed from a distance and leaving. Honda doesn't like such things.
Quote from lizardfolk :Scott Speed wasn't that bad. He wasnt Ide or Yoong, he had his moments. He just needed more support from the team imo

No he really was that bad. Even a glowing endoursement from Gerhard Berger doesnt change my opinion of him, because Gerhard is known for his practical jokes - I think that's what Scott Speed was. Oh that Gerhard, he's such a prankster y'know... Scott Speed as an F1 driver, what will he do next !?
