Alternate control methods
Hi,

I'd just like to know what control methods others use insted
of plain, boring, run-of-the-mill wheels and pedals?

I use a Logitech extreme 3D pro joystick:
handle twist axis - steering
throttle axis - acceleration / brake
trigger button - clutch
hat switch - gears up / down
auto-clutch off

pros
fast steering and gear change
precise throttle control

cons
no left foot braking or heel to toe
very sensitive steering
realism?w0t izzit?

So what are you driving with?
Improvement suggestions also accepted.

Regards,
pq

Food for thought:
if LFS keeps proceeding towards mandatory full realism there will be fewer new
players when the bulk of demo drivers decide its just too difficult to drive this
GAME without a 500+eur controller. I'm hoping it doesn't kill a great game.

Just like every racing sim since GPL you'll need split axis pedals to get the most out of it. That's it I can't see the auto-clutch disappearing so that's what you need if you want to race a racing sim properly. It hasn't stopped other sims from enjoying niche success and I doubt it will stop LFS, although I think we will continue to see a shift in user base and some of the arcade players will disappear off to play semi-sims because that is what they want.
