What PSU with 8800GTS (the new one)
It seems the new 8800GTS 512MB takes under load c. 291W, so what level PSU would be good? Is this enough?

Antec TP3-550 EC TruePower Trio 550W

Rest of the system is built around C2D E6750 (1xDVD, 1xHDD)

The name would suggest it is 'true power' and not some peak power
I am using 600w PSU for my 8800 GTS 640mb. Works fine. Zalman ZM600-HP to be exact.

I have a similar system, but 2xHDD. I am sure the Antec PSU will work fine.

291 W is the whole computer, not the GPU alone. So 550 W is more than enough.

Argh . Don't read tech articles when tired

Thanks for the comments anyway
Not so fast!

I recently upgraded my PSU too and went for Corsair modular 520W. It's simply a great piece of hardware - whisper quiet on idle or under full-tilt.

Check out Jimm's PC store. They had plenty of them in stock and price was right.
The Antec truepowers are fine; and indeed 550W is about 250 more than you need

Wattage rating means nothing, specially on cheap PSUs you get over half of wattage to 3.3V & 5V lines and those are meaningless on modern hardware, all you need is lot of Ampers to 12V line.
Take a look at Tom's Hardware's test results for power consumption. A bit different, and they were using a 530W PS.
