hi,

is there any rendering freeware i could download that might be used by a complete beginner like myself?

i'm quite impressed by what you guys are posting here and thought i might like to give it a try.

thanks a lot,

roland

thanks a lot. am now trying to find some tutorials. and i just realise what you mean, ajp71. that issue already goes beyond my little understanding of computer graphix.

also, can anyone tell me how to get a screenshot in lfs?

thanks a lot,

roland
press the printscreen button on your keyboard and open your image editing software and paste.
There's not an automatic way of saving screenshots in lfs yet.

oh well you can allways use www.fraps.com
The scene below is rendered with blender and yafray. The quality of it is only determined by my poor lighting and material skills. Getting the models into blender is easy, if you first convert them into .obj files. You can do this by this little python script: http://users.skynet.be/tom.demuer/cmx2obj.py

The script is in Python and should be straightforward to use. If you find this useful and have set up some mighty good looking scene, let me know, I also want mighty good looking renders
ah, thanks again.

tom, i guess here is where i say good bye to the idea of rendering anytime soon. seems like this is all a bit beyond my capabilities. anyhow, i'll look into all that, just in case, to see if i can sort all that out.

in the meantime i'll be happy to take some screenshots

cheers,

roland
