Fantastic clean racing

Who can honestly say they'd rather watch BTCC?
Only watched 2 and a half minutes of the first vid in the OP, but damn that is nice! I'll have to watch the rest tommorrow when the beer wears off. I wish I had a time machine to travel back then and see it in person. Same for late 60s F1 OOO and Group C!
I watched the first video already (not sure I can get away with much more while at work) but it's good watching. And of course my favourite classic muscle car in the lead from the start - watching the Escorts (they were Mk1 Escorts, right?) catch the Camaro on the corners only to see it pulling away on the straights... Nice.

Ah... you need to see the drama of part two! And they are Mk1s, but with 3litre V8s (or something close...) under the bonnet.

Only the one (that retired) had a 3 litre V8, god knows what that was, Rover? or being a Ford DFV?

The more successful Escorts had BDAs
I watched the 2nd part there and DAMN! That was a sneaky move by the 2nd place Escort (I assume they have names but I have no sound here) to pass under the blue flag, but a bloody gutsy re-take that caused the Camaro's spin.

But you could tell that even after just 15 laps they had trashed their tyres something crazy
WOW, the little move the Escort laid out was fantastic, followed by the re-pass re-pass Wonderful stuff, thanks for sharing!

A bit more recent footage but still 100x more interesting than today's FWD touring car crap

ps. if onyone knows from which year that is from, I'd like to know so I can update the video details...
Murray said 1988 near the end of the clip, not sure if that was a reference to that season or not, though. Great clip, thanks for uploading Some great action there, especially in the first two races (Brands Hatch was awesome!).
5.7 Camaro Vs a RS1600 escort!!!

Another clip apparently from same year...

Cheers That's the Birmingham Superprix - so from '86 to '89. Well, '87 to '89, I guess, since it seems to be a beautifully sunny, brum day and acccording to silhouet, it pissed down in '86!
Quote from nihil :Was going to put this in the video thread, but, hell, it deserves a thread all its own. Not just for nostalgists, this should be required viewing. Its all here: close, nose to tail racing; blue flag conduct; clean passing. And its breathtaking...

In two parts:

That was the best racing ive seen in ages! go mike crabtree!

i only ever see old F1 races on espn classic, its a shame they dont have old TC races.

You just don't see racing like that anymore. Good commentary as well, these days all they ever want to talk about is what's going on behind the scenes. I guess when the racing is boring you have to throw drama into the mix to spice it up a bit.
I want to see them on my TV, not the boring F1
Mucle cars, muscle cars
This is hilarious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjhV3xzkmzo

Again from '71. and Gerry's in it again, but its from Blue Peter (UK kids TV programme). Can you even imagine something like this being broadcast today: 9mpg; ton up just for the hell of it; John Noakes laughing like a demented hyena as he gasses it round Lydden.... ??!!
