gfx-ati radion x800 pro 256mb 475/450 clocked too 510/550


other system..

cpu-AMD Athlon 64, 3500+
mobo-KN1 SLI Extreme
ram- 4x 512mb pc world specials..(budget)
gfx- Nvidia 7600gt

(all that system is at stock levels not o/c'ed...


which of the 2 are faster?? and would you notice any differance when playing lfs???

latter would be a little quicker in LFS, but AMD cpu's REALLY don't like 4 sticks of RAM

If i were you i'd build my own, probably a VERY cheap C2D rig with a 8600GT

well its my brothers computer and he wants too swap.. one reason is his has SLI.. which i want... id be keeping my ram and what not.. only things we would be swapping is mobo/cpu/gfx cards... and keeping everything else...

P4 runs at 3.4 GHz
the 3500 runs at 2.0 GHz

the P4 has a 800 MHz FSB, the 3500 has a 200 MHz one

of course, both are meaningless, but he doesn't know that

so how come amd is faster then.. if the p4 has a bigger fsb and a bigger clock speed??? this is the only thing thats i dont understand..

well for each clock, the P4 does 6 calculations, and the AMD does 9 calculations, so it can do more. this would mean that a 6 GHz AMD could do the same amount of work as a 9 GHz P4, thus although my CPU in my sig is only at 3 GHz, as it's an AMD it's comparable to a 5 GHz intel.

yeah but that only applies to single core p4s. the new core 2 duo intels are more efficient than AMDs.

thus why i said P4's - dual core doesn't make a difference. The newer core 2 duo Intels do 12

ATM? Nothing, the E6300, with a little tweaking, beats everything AMD have (not including the socket F stuff)
