YouTube and LFS
We all realize that You Tube only provides a certian amount of UPLOAD SPACE (for want of a better word) But OMG...every video out there looks like it's done by an 8 year old.

This does not represent the sim in anyway, so I'd like to ask the top vid guys..ie..Joe Cool...or maybe Tweak...to put forth one clean vid of the sim.

I'm sure there are peeps who can point a cam at a monitor and make it look better than the stuff that is out there.

If it's not possible by the membership maybe this should be refered to the Devs so thier game is represented in a clean look.

Get after it and make that vid...someone has the talent i'm sure.

Heh, I have video editing experience, but have never released ONE video of LFS, ever... This is due to the fact that I don't really have a system that can capture nicely... so I have to wait till I get a new system, and I'd definitely be making videos like you mention here .
Sure if you search for "live for speed" the first few pages shows only pointless vids with most likely recorded with 5 fps and showing crashing on oval or drifting... I bet that doesn't impress anyone especially when we're talking about a sim. Search for "GTR2" for example and you'll find nearly only onboard vids that at least gives a better impression.

Not sure did I understood what you mean but youtube.com streaming puts also some requirements for the video quality... though if the video is properly made it still can look good when you render a special 320x240 version to upload (that's a recommended resolution, to get best of out of the video after it is compressed again by youtube).

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZkWZj1TothA - more vids like this (made by me ) that gives a good impression about LFS
how do you drive with those camera angles?
..you dont, thats a replay anyway (as it says)
tat is a good video. whenever i used fraps to take videos i always found the quality was really poor when i went into windows movie maker to peice it together. :S

Whoever put that video together is frickin brilliant at what he does. Not seen an LFS video put together that good in a long time.
very good indeed. and nice song choices. RATM rock. one question, near the end of that video, theres a night time seen. is that acheivable in game or is it been played with afterwards?
Looks like the sky texture has been darkened so it looks closer to nighttime in the game. Simpler to do than editing it in afterwards. But night-time texture mods are a bit pointless till we get proper dynamic lighting for headlights etc.
I've searched You Tube a couple of times looking for a decent video that would impress some friends and make them understand why they WANT to buy the game. Almost every one I've seen is drifing or crashing or just poor.

I'm surprised there isn't a elegantly simple video, of a decent length, that really shows everything LFS has to offer....maybe created by the devs, in fact. Not something that focuses on a racing style, personalities, etc, just some real racing in various cars - long enough shots to capture the interest of someone with no previous knowledge of LFS.

The BR video is well done. It would be nice if there was such a 'history of LFS' that focused on the game itself. The quick shots of cars going through a chicane or corner are things we can all relate to, but for an absolute newcomer to lfs, they hardly show how much fun the game is, or how great the racing is.
Watching the BR video.. damn I love that old BL chikane

And if thats not enough, what about yamakawa's UF1 league videos?

There are enough very good videos on youtube, you just have to watch further than page 1.

Ironic that you'd assume I hadn't looked past page 1, while you evidently didn't bother to read past sentence 1 of my post.

I watched the first 2 videos you linked, and they are exactly what I said I wasn't looking for - quick one, two, or three seconds splash shots of cars careening through chicanes and around corners. All external views with people going ape shit on camera views and external filters.

The type of videos here could just as easily be made of netkar, gran torismo, GTR2, Nascar 1999, or Super Mario Cart. The only difference would be texture coloring and quality. There is no real sense of what it's like to be IN a close race in LFS, the variety of cars available - more importantly - the fact that they ARE very different, not just the same experience with a different window drawn around it.

What you want can't be portrayed in a video.

As he said, I doubt, that can be achieved with a video.

The examples, I gave, are IMO the best LFS videos and show the game and the racing action (like you said, you wanted in your first post here) very well.

If you want to show the variety of cars combined with good racing, why dont you show them some MPRs of you or make a video yourself of them?
