VERL 2025 - Round 2
V8 Racing League 2025
Round 2

Sunday,5th October
17:00 UTC / 19:00 CET / 20:00 EET

The middle round of this short season brings the shortest track of the season - however the 40 meters shorter track compared to the one in 1st round needs longer time to be circled around as the Rockingham ISSC Long has much lower average speed through out the course, but also has one fast section where drivers can hang into draft and go for simpler pass.

Signups list has filled a bit more compared to few days before season opener,so there is at least some chances of having a full race length for full points, however still not a single previous champion has submitted his wish to take another title in VERL. With only half points being awarded after 1st round, the championship is still wide open - anyone entering has still good chances if delivering good performance with some additional competition.

Round info:

This season turned VERL into sprint racing series - interest racing a 500 horsepower single seater is low as for 2nd round in row only 7 drivers attended qualifying from which 6 started the race. From the first 6 drivers running the new car in Rockingham for the first time during a competition, just half managed to reach the finish by completing the required 2/3 of race distance.

For 2nd time in row race was won by previous vice-champion of series, however with absense of round 1 winner, this time it was Rony, who was the fastest in both sessions, scoring his 2nd VERL pole position and despite getting involved minor incidents during early phase of the race,he also crossed the finish line as race winner after leading 25 laps in his 50th VERL race. LG-mies is running in VERL for the 4th season and this is turning into his best one - the 2nd position in both sessions are his best results (previously 5th in qualifying and 4th in race),the finn already doubled the number of his top5 finishes in VERL. With different troubles,Madjester was the last driver to classify him in race results as finished, still in this low attended event that resulted in 3rd place finish, which means also he has doubled the amount of own top5 finishes during this season.

The winner of round 1 and first standings leader did not attend this round,so he was overtaken by 3 others - winner of the latest round took over standings lead and currently is 3 points ahead of Madjester,3rd in standings is LG-mies with 6 points gap. With too many variables possible for season finale,it's quite difficult to calculate any scenarions for championship securing - if attendance stays low, current leader needs to score one bonus point, then 2nd place finish already is enough, while 2nd place in standings need to take all possible points to take championship without any calculations. The other individual award is still inactive - still just a single rookie has finished a race,no other has even started one.

Also teams standings has a new leader - Race Green Autosports is now ahead of SGR by 3 points and sets sights towards it's 3rd championship. Defending champions Team S1dus slipped down to 3rd in points tie with Zafiralis. The 9-time champions Finland lost some of it's advantage and now leads standings by just 3 points over Latvia,Portugal slips down to 3rd with 6 points gap to leader.

Season finale of this short 3 round series will take place in 2 weeks in Kyoto National configuration, which just like in last season will be run in reversed direction. The championships deciding race is planned to have 39 laps, which in case of low attendace may be reduced to 20.
