When: Monday 4th of August. 45 min qualifying will start at 17:00 UTC, heat races will start at 18:00 UTC
Where: Westhill custom Rallycross course (WE3X) at our server ZFRL•Events

In just a week we will put on some dirt tyres and go rip some grass on a WRC class rally car in our third rallycross event of the season. We will use the AZOO RIS 4X4 to race around a custom Westhill Rallycross layout in small groups. The event format will differ from other tyre type rounds, here is a brief introduction to the rallycross style event:
  • There will be a 45 min qualifying starting at 17:00 UTC
  • There will be 3 sets of heat races divided into groups of 3-5 cars depending on total attendance
  • There will be Final races with 6 cars each, the amount of finals (A,B,C...) depends on total attendance
  • Your qualifying result determines your group and grid position for heat 1
  • Your race time from heat 1 determines your group and grid position for heat 2
  • Your combined race time from heats 1 and 2 determine your group and grid position for heat 3
  • Your combined race time from all heats minus the slowest one determines your final (A,B,C...) and grid position
  • 1-5 fastest combined total times qualify for A-final, 6-10 qualify for B-final and so on
  • Winner of each final advances to the next one in 6th grid position
  • Total round results are determined by your finishing position in your last final race
If this seems confusing, do not be afraid to join the server on race day. Simply set a laptime during qualifying and follow the orders from race direction and you will do just fine.

As always, the race will be will be livestreamed by Sim Broadcasts on their Twitch and Youtube channels.

The results posted above are confirmed as official - with the addition of Suforr classified as 5th in the B-final (10th overall)

In the last rallycross round we raced a rather slow mod car around the shortest official rallycross layout in LFS. This time we used a much faster mod based on a current era WRC car around a custom made grass circuit in the Westhill infield.

As usual, we had a 45 minute qualifying session which determined the grid positions and divisions for the first set of heat races. Fastest time during this qualifying was set by Suforr, who was the only one to go below 51 seconds. Second fastest was Rydh, followed by Thehemuli and Motimoukari. Toni burgermeister (AKA Unite) was fifth and the last one to fit into the fastest group of heat 1.

We had some drama during the heat races: the top qualifier Suforr had two DNF:s and had to settle for last grid position in the B-final. A late joiner who only managed a single timed lap during qualifying, Michal picked up the pace right from the first heat and was leading the combined times sheet after 2 sets of heats. His combined time was only beaten by Thehemuli after heat 3 was done, which meant these two would start form the front row in A-final. Next to them in the three-wide grid would be Rydh. The other two dirvers to make it straight in to the A-final were Motimoukari in 4th and Madjester in 5th. Rest of the drivers had to fight for the win in the B-final in order to make it into P6 on the A-final grid.

The B-final had plenty of action as the drivers fought for a spot in the A-final. Rony was unable to convert his pole position in to an early lead as Maciek and Mr. Burgermeister sneaked past in turn 1. Suforr made a set of moves from the back of the grid and was already trying a move on Maciek in to the final turn on lap 1. Maciek defended well but Suforr seemed to have the pace until Burgermeister hit him causing a half-spin and a loss of almost 3 seconds, luckily costing no positions. Suforr caught back up and went for a move on the last lap, but an unlucky contact sent him into a wall and forced a retirement. Maciek took the win in B-final and was promoted to A-final.

There was an intense fight for the win in the A-final between Thehemuli and Michal. Thehemuli was leading as Michal was giving pressure for the whole race distance but was unable to make a move stick. Thehemuli takes second rallycross win in a row, and is joined on the podium by Michal in 2nd and Rydh in 3rd. Fourth place for Madjester, just barely out of the podium despite a good looking move into the final turn on lap 5. Motimoukari takes fifth before Maciek in sixth.

In just a week we will end our Westhill campaign with a GTR class race, full info in the round 9 thread in a minute.
