Model with already existing physics?
Hello, i'm fairly new to LFS! Me and my friends wan't to do this type of racing that exists in sweden called "folkrace" and would like to have cars that look like they do in real life.
So as none of us are programmers / modelers etc, i looked on 3dcadbrowser and found a model that would suit what we're after. So my question is, is it possible to take a model and put on physics from another car already in the game to make it drivable?

And if not, i am willing to pay if anyone could possibly help create a car for us..

thanks
Wouldn't it be easier to use some of the existing mods out there? There are many realistic one's out there.

If cars' engines are too powerful, you could enforce voluntary intake restriction with the help of InSim.

As i mentioned i'm fairly new to LFS (took over my brothers account) but is there more mods than the ones available in game?
There are the default cars (SHIFT+P > Cars), and then there are car mods (SHIFT+P > Mods). Make sure you display all cars, including tweak mods. Also make sure to display all mods and all classes.

That will be displaying all public mods for you.
Hope this helps.

Oh yeah i did this, i found a car here that i liked the handling of i was basically just thinking if (and if so how) it was allowed to take the physics from that car and basically put another "body" on it Big grin

Yes it is possible to essentially copy a car's physics.
Just open two instances of LFS Editor -> save frame from one of the LFS cars -> load frame in the other instance, put them in split screen and copy-paste the suspension values manually.
What vehicle do you have in mind? and how would the handling be sought

I want to put a Volvo 240 body on the "GM_SST_SHARK C" by henricat2006. It handles great and we have done nice setups for the type of racing we do
I'm not an expert, but I don't think you have access to existing mods. Just the vanilla cars.
But with that being said, you do have access to the suspension geometry diagrams in the setup menu where you can mimic the SAI, scrub radius, caster, track width and all that stuff.

But it would be even cooler if you get accurate volvo 240 suspension geometry on there Smile

And btw, make sure the model is creative commons, or you get permission to use it so that it can become an approved mod.
