VERL 2020 - Round 4
V8 Racing League 2020
Round 4

Sunday,25th October
18:30 UTC* / 19:30 CET / 20:30 EET

Please note the UTC time change!

V8 Racing league returns to South City this sunday for another urban based racing event. The newest official configuration will be run this year in reversed direction - Chicane Route was the latest addition to South City configurations lineup, featuring the famous narrow chicane through an alley between houses which can take out even the most skilled drivers in slightest lapse of focus. Besides the 1st corner, narrow chicane and following tight righthander, the track is very fast and features long full throttle blasts, none of them in a straight line for long distance though.

After 60% being completed of the 5 round series,we're less than 60% sure about possible outcome of the season - the dominating driver in 1st two rounds did not attend the third, but is still table leader,so this round will deffinitelly make things more clear as it will take away the chance for the series title for majority of current theoretical contenders. While in teams championship the situation is similar to drivers standings, there are no doubts about Finland securing the 5th Nations Cup before final round.

Round info:
Track: South City Chicane Route Reversed (SO6R)
Laps: 69
Previous winners: Teho | Altsu (2019), Botsi (2018), v\A.Wiśniewski (2017), CoRe S.Souders (2016), [SR] S.Litmanen (2015)

When looking at the results, one might think it's impossible to overtake in this guardrail and concrete canyon - top3 finished in same order they qualified, positions 4 to 6 could not finish in decent positions for various reasons, but positions 7 to 11 from qualifying finished in same order as qualified with just a gain of 3 positions for each.

After not attending round 3,series leader S.Litmanen returned and performed another dominating raceday - he led every single meter of the race and scored all possible points once again. The all finnish podium featured 2 previous winners - the winner of this season's previous round Maunokasa finished 2nd hald a minute behind the winner, while the defending round winner Altsu finished 3rd,starting his final lap few seconds before winner's finish.

As suggested this round should have make things more clear - with series leader winning and 2nd place owner not attending,S.Litmanen secured the Drivers Champion title with 1 round to spare - his lead over 2nd place driver Maunokasa and 3rd place driver Rony is 28 points with 22 possible to score. With this S.Litmanen becomes the 1st ever Race Green Events yearly leagues returning drivers champion. The remaining steps on the series season podiums are still to be sorted out and situation could not be more intriguing - between 2nd and 6th positions there is just 4 points margin. The fate of Rookie of the Year title also is within this battle - Maunokasa is just 2 points ahead of Fatass.

Teams championship is yet to be decided in final round - Team S1DUS picked up plenty of points in previous round and has a healty 22 points lead over 2nd place team RGA,team "a" is another 11 points behind in 3rd and is the last team theoretically eligible for title. In Nations Cup the situation is completely different - Finland scored the maximum possible points for 2nd round in row and as expected wrapped up the title. Hungary is 2nd and has scored less than 1/3 of leaders points,Latvia is 3rd.

Despite 2 of 4 titles are secured, racing action is expected to be good as always - there are plenty of other honors to be decided. Also this year's season finale will be 1st ever VERL visit to Jamaica it it's 6 years of existance. Probably the most classic configuration in Fern Bay is the one named Gold - a 3.5 kilometer 8-track shaped course, featuring a wide variation of turns ranging from slow hairpins to fast flat out turns.
