I remember being on the old forums (racesimcentral was it?) before we got the official LFS forums. Too many years. Haven't played online for a bit.

Racesimcentral it was, indeed. I miss that community.
I see that 2003 was a good year in LFS history. Smile
Oh BUMS! Frown I got to work tonight...otherwise I would LOVE to join in with all the oldies racing!
Have fun guys, and congrats to Looney for hitting double figures!
Idea! Oldies vs Newbies!

( sorry bump but had to shout it out here )

2003 was the year the Racing Legends hype turned into vaporware, and loads of people flocked from that non-existing sim to LFS because of some user reviews on the forum over there.
Evening, General.

EDIT: realised i'm in the decade club too, hell yeah!

I've never heard of Racing Legends, and mentions on the internet are scarce, apart from parts of their old website. Could you fill us on that story please?
Racing legends website: http://www.west-racing.com/racing.htm

Not much happening there, but I don't remember them saying they stopped working on it. I remember after several years of silence, someone who knows the guys said they were still working on it. But that was several years ago...

EDIT: Found a news and FAQ page as well. The links along the top don't seem to work.

EDIT2: Realtime tyre deformation video.

For sure, latest news in 2003 ... not so promising Frown
But I admit I do remember the project and being excited about what they showed ...

Just reading :
"Planned Packs:"
...
"Rally Legends"
...
"Hill Climb Legends"
...
Omg omg omg
Looks like they said 'we're going to make the most realistic sim ever!' And then put all their time into making 3D models.

The lighting in that tire deformation video is really... nice.
If you want to learn about Racing Legend, AutoSimSport did a nice job a few years ago: http://autosimsport.net/issues/autosimsport_v6i2_March2012.pdf

Reading about the authenticity of each player's car to make them feel like it's their own reminds me of the idea to have our own working odometer to increase the same feeling. Sometimes it's little insignificant details that gives a lot of charm and personality. I like their idea of dismantling the whole engine in the virtual garage for inspection but even by today's standard it just seems like way out of reach.
Hey old folks, 10 years went like a blast...

I think most of you know that hit-song back to old days or smth.

If 90's were your childhood, I find this one miles better, so much nostalgia... been there, done that, everything! It shows our region from that time like a mirror...

I love Rebeka!! Smile Band great like LFS, and like LFS so underrated and unknown by the masses..

Interesting read thanks.
