The online racing simulator
Awesome, but now the truth is out. Scrawen has been indulging in Capt Kirk Oculus Rift fantasy porn with a 12-mouthed alien in a smokey, intergalactic tavern!

His post, not mine ............

Mind you, it has been denied
Quote from Scawen :To be clear, when I said "some people" that did not include me!

So, the truth is now out about the delays to LFS, clearly Geraldine is now aware of this so progress will now be taking place.
Hey Scawen how old is Leo now? Does he play LFS?
He's 8 now, and has done some testing at Westhill.

Nicole is 6 but can't quite reach the pedals yet though she is not far behind Leo in height.

The do a lot more cycling and sport than computer games.
My first daughter is turning the wheel while sitting on my knees (I press the pedals) ... but at 2 years and a half, I do not expect 103% of the WR ... staying on the road is not even an option for long
Eight?, soon ready for some vitamin C++

(rosewood2) DELETED by rosewood2 : post below contains more so no need for a double post

And I thought LFS was programmed in another programming language (C#)

That's good news!
I saw this when I first joined LFS shortly after Patch X was released. It was when the demo version dropped the XRT and added the FBM although the video was posted by another channel. Here's the original post though.

>Soon available : Formula BMW FB02

Hello Racers!

We are pleased to announce that there will be a new patch before Christmas. This patch will contain AI and physics improvements, updated Blackwood and South City tracks and... a new real car - The Formula BMW FB02!

The story behind the new car is that there is a new UK based company called V1 Championship whose aim is to discover a new racing driver through a series of tests resulting in a place in a team for the winning driver. V1 will be launched in 2008 and shown on TV in the UK. Live for Speed will be used as part of the selection process, before testing in real cars. V1 asked us to create a Formula BMW to make this test as realistic as possible. BMW Motorsport gave us permission to build the car in LFS, so we went ahead and built it.

The V1 car is owned by Fortec Motorsport where V1 is based. Thanks to V1 and Fortec, our programmer Scawen Roberts was able to get a test day driving the Formula BMW and that helped a lot with the realism of the LFS version of the car.

We can't give an exact date for the release yet but it will be before Christmas. Right now you can watch a video of Scawen's test day and footage of the car in LFS. Thanks to DoN for making the video. Click one of the links below to download or stream it. If the download doesn't play on your computer, just visit www.divx.com and install the free DivX player.

Movie download : Formula BMW video LO-RES (30 MB)
Movie download : Formula BMW video HI-RES (69 MB)

We hope you enjoy the video and we look forward to releasing the patch, which is currently being thoroughly tested!

I'm a bit late for the thread, but that's good stuff, Scawen. My only time in a race car was a few laps at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in an old Indycar with a weaker engine for public use.

Believe it or not, that's about 130 mph right there. After this was a ride in a 180 mph two seater with Arie Luyendyk Jr. driving. Great fun.
As happy as I am that we got the FBM, its a shame that it essentially killed off all the good FOX racing. It use to be that there would be 2 popular servers on any given night. One was a multi-class GT server and the other was a FOX only server with cycling tracks. Now its just one popular S2 server and a boatload of demo servers running the FBM.

N1, but, how much is different motorsport beetween USA and Europe.

Small OT:
Imho if we took some Americans to a track day here at Monza Circuit, they would say: "omg what a riced civic, hahaaha watch that stupid Fiat, he has only 150 bhp etc..."
Wow didnot know Lfs got youtube channel lol

the 7 configurations of Rockingam :lovies3d:

Makes you wonder what's happened to Rockingham, seeing as it's essentially complete in those videos. There's certainly no real technical reason why we couldn't be driving it now.

I suspect the reason is more legal, since V1 stopped using LFS, and the opportunity to put Rockingham ingame came through them.

I'd love to know the real reason behind it all from scawen etc.

Well that doesn't tell us much about Rockingham. He said that he'd like to release some S3 content if the tyre physics take too long, even if they can't release all of it. Note that Rockingham isn't actually mentioned.

Rockingham is S3 content.
I am aware of that.
Quote from McGherkin :I am aware of that.

When S3 will be purchasable, Rockingam will of course be one of the content directly available ... I do not imagine the opposite. The track has been (is ? ) available with the simulator on the circuit after having been laserscanned, so I think it is totally correct to think we could race on it . Maybe some tunnings have to be done for AI, but else than 'minor' upgrade, I think it is ready for us . Simply the tyre physics thing has delayed it + the fact it intends to be S3 contents. Now, I believe Scavier want to sell the S3 contents with more than "only" Rockingam

Well, that's my point. The track's been largely ready for years. Tyre physics is largely irrelevant.

I get the thing about wanting to have more S3 content to release in one go, but to be honest myself and a lot of people would happily pay for S3, get Rockingham now and a trickle feed of content (much) later, and give ScaViEr the funding now to perhaps get some help in speeding up the content side of things, whilst Scawen has still got the time to work on the tyre physics.
selling S3 after many years with "only" Rockingam and a pledge there will be more content soon = big pressure and loads of moaning in the forum for long.
It would unfortunately be a bad move from ScaViEr (but do not get me wrong, I would pay for it directly).
