Car(s) involved: 96;54
Location of Incident: entry of turn 1
Brief Description of Incident: while entering turn 54 suddenly cuts down and hits 96

Car 54 is maintaining his line arc through Turn 1, Car 96 is attempting an overtake. It's possible that Car 54 had no expectation or knowledge of 96's overtake momentum, and Car 96 could have waited until turn 2 to make the move. Racing incident.

Administration have also reviewed all SC causes, and restarts.

SC #1, Lap 4/66, 5:20 mpr time, Cars 13, 96, 8, 63

Originating Incident: Car 13 leaves insufficient room for the others in the swarm in T3, leading to contact with Cars 96 and 8, then Car 13 shifts up course into 63, causing 13 and 63 to impact the outside wall. Warning to Car 13, failure to leave racing room.

Restart: Clean.

SC #2, Lap 12/66, 14:00 mpr time, Cars 69, 96

Originating Incident: Cars 96 and 69 side-by-side, their lines simply cross, leading to both spinning. Racing Incident

Restart: Car 13 overtakes Car 2 prior to the green flag. WARNING to Car 13, overtaking prior to green. Else, clean.

SC #3, Lap 24/66, 24:30 mpr time, Cars 4, 8

Originating Incident: Cars 4 and 8 cross lines, similar to SC #2 report. Racing Incident

Restart: Car 54 - Warning for 3 separate contacts made with Car 32 between the "SAFETY CAR IN PITLANE" message and the green flag. Car 6 - WARNING for 2 separate contacts, one of which being a couple seconds in duration, with Car 46 between the "SAFETY CAR IN PITLANE" message and the green flag.

Just prior to the green flag, an accordian effect occurs, which propagates from Car 08, who has to accelerate to close the gap vacated when Car 24 makes an (illegal) pit entry. The accordion effect is minor from Car 8 through Car 96, with all drivers gently accelerating and gently slowing back to SC pace. Car 98 created a potentially dangerous situation by accelerating to about 172 kph (no ahead driver exceeded 170 kph during this process), then slamming the brakes just before he would have impacted Car 96. Because the following cars had to react to the car directly ahead, this exacerbated the accordion effect there, with Cars 77, 69, and 33 mimicking Car 98's action, leading those three to be three wide at the moment of green. Fortunately, the effect came to this point at the end of the queue, leaving sufficient room for the 5 cars in this scenario to react without contact. Car 98 warned for his contribution to cause the blossom of the accordion effect. Else, clean.

SC #4, Lap 28/66, 29:05 mpr time Cars 4, 46, 54, 2, 6, 8

Originating Incident: Car 4 goes for a gap that is not sufficiently there, with Car 46 close to the left side, and Car 54 at Car 4's 2

Restart: Clean.

SC #5, Lap 52/66, 49:00 mpr time, Cars 13, 98

Originating Incident: Car 98 moves down into Car 13, Car 13 takes a later entry into T3 plus has some right side damage affecting handling. Racing incident.

Restart: Small issue between Cars 35 and 33, Car 35 seems to slam on the brakes for a short time due to closing in too quickly to Car 4, and Car 33 has to react. No action, just noting for the record, to highlight this as undesired behaviour. Car 6 makes a contact with Car 69 shortly before the green flag. Warning again to Car 6. Else, clean.

SC #6, Lap 60/66, 58:30 mpr time, Cars 33, 5

Originating Incident: Car 5 stays on a slightly higher line in T3, Car 33 aims for a lower line. Racing incident.

Restart: Clean.

All pit entries and exits will be audited during the day Thursday, with results + points posted / updated after that.
Car 24 isssued a warning for illegal pit entry at the end of the 3rd Safety Car period. Not only was the entire apron used (the course is still yellow until the green flag, the yellow flag pit entry should be used until the next time by after the green flag), but he also overtook the entire queue prior to the green flag.

No illegal spectating.
