is there any way of converting the replays so they can be edited in movie maker???
also which file do the replays go into i cant find them anywhere.

You'll have to capture the replays, for instance with Fraps. You can't convert the replay file itself into a video file, because it's not a videofile but a file that instructs LFS to "recreate" the events.
Single player replays go into data/spr, multiplayer replays go into data/mpr
