The online racing simulator
We need functional (working) virtual cockpit
To start at least this much for GTR cars only...

Scawen, any chance?
But why? Is it that immersive to have to reach for the mouse and click tiny toggles with tiny labels to do anything? Try netKar and see how irritating it is.
Would have the option, a mouse or keyboard, any key - select...
VR cockpit contributes to reality...
Well...

At LFS, there is 3 ways when the cars starts:

1: Race Start. Everyone is ready at grid just waiting the green light. All engines are already on.

2: Pits. The team starts your engine, prepares everything to get you on track. No need for start engine.

3: Autocross. You are just waiting to do that lap, and is stopped at start point. Engine is on, you are just waiting to go.

At LFS you always start race-ready, why would be needed buttons to start the engine?

Quali.
I agree nice LOOKING cockpits are good, but I don't see the benefit of having them clickable. Even if other stuff was working - rain lights, fuel pump switchovers, dash controls etc - then you wouldn't be able to click whilst driving, you'd either use a keyboard or bind them to a wheel button.

Same with flight sims. The only time you really use a mouse to click virtual cockpits is for the long start up process of a modern jet plane, or if you happen to forget one of 400 keyboard combinations you will need whilst flying AND can see the switch you need to press (which is rare, it's usually tucked away somewhere that you can't easily get to).

So +1 for modelled virtual cockpits and -1 for interactive buttons with a mouse.

Option, and choose what you like... Mouse click or keys... Like in flight sims, yes. Flight Simulator for example.
