What resolution were you running at before?

Going from say; 1024x768 to 1920x1080 will make large jumps in the required performance needs. I really don't know anything about ATI cards but I do believe the 5770 should handle the resolution fine...
I had a VGA 17 inch monitor before with a resolution of 1440 * 900
and i had like 150+ fps

Now i have set this resolution(test) on my new monitor/tv
and ofcourse quality looks crap but i get 5 a 10 fps more.
I wouldn't put my money on it, but could it be that somehow V-Sync has activated when changing the monitor?

It should stay at 60FPS most of the time though...
i have increased my fps by changing the "Standard 3D Setting" to optimal quality instead of optimal performance in Catalyst Control Center. Get now around the 80 fps now
Have limited it now @ 62 fps.
i had the same problem and am running 2 ati 5770s i fixed it by changing the settings in ccc panel i found it mainly to be the catalyst A.I setting which ive now set to performance and af which set to use app settings, the majority of the time get between 150 - 220+ fps,
