I was wondering yesterday, and kicked into posting today after the sun mapping thread, what the effect of editing LFS' gamma table to produce glint and glare (all easy under DX7 without any major extra coding).

This is where all the colours in the game are shown at around 80% of their real values which does reduce contrast slightly, but then excemt those colours at or near white - this would have the effect of increasing the intensity of glare from the environment mapping (reflection) on the cars.

I dont know how the final result would look without trying it, but it's a quick job for Scawen to attempt it and experiment with the result.

Making changes to the gamma table should be extremely easy as LFS is a DX based game, and the effect might be quite cool - not as extreme as real life (hopefully!) where those glints leave green and purple splodges on your eyes - but a more comfortable halfway house to achieving the same result .
