The online racing simulator
Quote from rockclan :How can it come so close to reality when there's not even real tracks. Cause then you can never know if it's close to reality.

Why do you need real tracks to know if a car handles right? If you drive on a new road or track in real life, are you suddenly unable to tell if the car handles right because it's a new bit of road that you've never driven before?

Unless there's been a some stupendous new simulator that can not just 'scan' tracks but accurately emulate the continuing and infinitely detailed evolution of a it through it's life time, the idea that having real tracks in a game means you can better gauge realism is just farcical. Added to the fact that only a tiny proportion of people actually get to try the exact same car/track combo in a sim that they drive in reality, means your comment there doesn't really stack up.

Touche.

And how many people have actually driven comparable cars on real world tracks anyway? I'm guessing very few, if any.

Indeed.

Go to any track 100 times, and I guarantee that it will effectively be a new track 200 times (once each for qualifying and the race).

iRacing might have 'real' tracks in it, but not one of them captures the track it is intended to be.

Whilst never driven on many tracks, I would agree, It's only common sense to know that the slightest weather change can alter the dynamics of the track surface. Even some kerbing softens up alot in the sun as do some asphalt surfaces for that matter...
Scawen, please don't remove the ability of tweaking cars and making tweak servers IF you update lfs someday !
Dear LFS Racers,

We hope you have had a good year.

The stable Z28 has been the latest version for a long time now, while we have been working on things for the long term future of LFS. As many of you know, the tyre physics system is being updated so all the cars will behave that bit closer to reality. It has proved to be a challenging and unpredictable project, involving a lot of studying, mathematics, testing and rewriting.

Sometimes, we had a version that felt good to drive and it seemed that soon we would be able to release it to the community. But then we found situations where the simulation produced incorrect results, leading to further investigations into the way tyres perform in various circumstances and why they do so. One thing tends to lead to another and for a while it seems that the more you learn about tyres, the more you realise that there is so much more to find out!

Scawen has written a little more about tyre design and simulation in case you would like to get a bit more technical.

The VW Scirocco and Rockingham have seemed quite close to release for some time now, but we decided to wait for the updated tyres because these things from the real world will be best experienced with the most realistic physics system. Eric has been working on some more S3 content but he would like to get nearer to finishing before we show any new pictures.

Victor has recently produced a special program "LFS Record" which can help you to produce smooth movies from Live for Speed, using advanced camera control. It is still in a beta stage at the moment. The program has a lot of features - too much to describe here, so if you do make movies or would like to have a go, take a look at the LFS Record thread on our forum.

Scawen is ill and he has stoped working on LFS 4ever....

Early 2011 is still near to end LFS earned nothing more respect its a nice game for someone who never heard something about LFS.

Something from LFS Desktop:
This page contains notes about the latest updates made to LFS websites :

24 Nov 2009 is the latest post there

500 Licenseed Players and 700 Demo users who never buy LFS without anything new will come. 1000 Active drivers.. its nothing..

LFS was good what it was untill 2009 - early 2010 but there was a deadpoint and now LFS is going to die.

Eric gaves a shit for us, Scawen isnt still around here and Victor made his Tool which isnt helpfully to release S3 faster..

Damn i dont know why but i am so angry. I dont understand why they are let LFS die in such a way.. It was such an awsomegame but now its boring ... No content no Cars no Posts for anything new.. not even a sign of live. its so sad..
