[vbox] Shadow rendering problems
Hi. Under VirtualBox 4 (host: ArchLinux x64 running kernel 2.6.36-ARCH, NV 9800GT, using official binary driver), both default and alternate shadow rendering is broken:

As far as I know, VirtualBox uses WineD3D for Windows to translate Direct3D calls into OpenGL, and Chromium to offload 3D rendering to host OS.

By the way, everything else seems to work just fine.
I have had issues before, which leads me onto three questions.

1) Did it ever work? or is this the first time you have tried it?
2) Have you tried a new install of Live for Speed?
3) Are you using any texture packs?

I once had a faulty shadow in a texture pack, a simple re-install of those specific files fixed the issue.

DirectX 8 games didn't worked in VirtualBox at all, since version 4 which was released few days ago.

it IS a fresh install, I installed it just to see if (and how well) LFS works in new VirtualBox.

Nope.

Shadows don't have any textures
This is very likely a problem of WineD3D. I can't be 100% sure but it seems to me that it's based on Wine 1.1.38 which had this kind of problems with shadows in LFS. Perhaps a test with an older version of WineD3D in VBox or a test with Wine 1.1.38 would tell more...
ah, the black square... i had this problem on wine with my busted ati drivers... only way i got around it was to use another video card (or computer).

as for it being a wine bug, they fixed that around 1.1.0 if i'm not mistaken.
Replacing VirtualBox-provided WineD3D with official build has helped, gonna report this bug on vbox bugtracker then.
