Moar snow here!

Quote from Kaw :global warming my ass ....

Well technically Global Warming [insert "" around that if you wish :P] is causing the Gulf Stream to go further north, and so causing weather that we should actually get every winter for out latitude
Quote from J@tko :Moar snow here!

Same, been going at a moderate level for quite a few hours.
We had loads of snow pretty much all day yesterday, then it absolutely hammered it down in the evening. Must've been about 6-9 inches in the car park we were in.

Today theres still a lot of snow on the ground and it keeps trying to snow. This morning the skies were clear, sun was out and now it's all greyed up. I reckon it will snow again heavily tonight, which is bad news as i'll be out drinking.

Although it was ridiculously cold last night, it was awesome to see so much snow. Not seen so much in years.
Quote from Xaid0n :you're in the wrong place 5haz it's snowin up the road in colchester has been on and off all day.

Mate says its started in Chelmsford, so here it comes.
wow, the snow has really picked up o_O... like a blizzard now
Snow picked up here in Loughborough but jesus I was with my wife in Bradford and Leeds and the snow there is.... insane.... like 8feet breaking through your windows.
All we got here after last night is snow buried under 1cm of ice. It was raining almost all night and then it froze. Here's what it looks like.
Last pic is tunnel i accidentally made, when i tried to remove all that snow.

Can't remember, when we last had conditions like this in here, could be over 10 years.

Starting yet again here, if it gets heavy there going to be one impressive blizzard 'cos its really gusting.
Fun little story for you guys, it has a picture too!

So, I'm the little silver box waiting to turn right into road 1 because my house is at the end of road 3, the horrible coloured box is a little Suzuki 4x4 coming out of road 1 and wanting to turn right. The little Suzuki is going too fast considering all of these roads are solid blocks of ice, and the bloody clown locks up all 4 wheels approaching the junction and slides to the position I marked. I knew by the car they were driving that they had no idea how to drive, so I was ready and accelerated out of the way and pulled over to make sure the old man driving was still alive. The driver was fine and just carried on like nothing happened and I let him pass me since I had now missed my turn. I was going to turn around but as you can see in the diagram I could just go to road 2 instead, which I did. But so did the idiot in the Suzuki, so not only did he nearly crash into me, but he had no need to even go down that road in the first place!

I think we need better driving tests, it's criminal that we are allowed to drive without having car control lessons. I'm sure we could prevent 90% of accidents with a basic car control section of the standard driving test.

Arguably it would give drivers too much confidence, and they'll drive even faster.

Solution - Privitise roads. No road owner would allow their business to become in jeopardy by running out of salt and grit. No doubt driving standards would be higher due to road owners requiring better qualified drivers. Who wants court action right because your road allowed under skilled drivers?

So therefore we should give them no training at all and hope they all go 2 MPH. n1

Been driving around Ipswich all day (ferrying stock around from a soon-to-be-closed Currys.Digital) and seen some utter retards - yesterday was even worse tho, everyone coming out of all the sideroads always seemed to be doing about 20 with the wheels locked heading straight for me

My el-cheapo tyres aren't the best choice for the weather I will admit, but I much MUCH prefer snap oversteer to long "never ending" understeer.
we're supposed to have a lot of snow tonight and through tomorrow but nothing as of yet
im forcasted snow tonight light and tomorrow night light and monday light aswell i think meh might get another day off school hopefully

... Of coursse.. why don't you also privatize courts, jails, schools, health care, etcera...

Yeah, it'd be great.. people buying out judges (even moreso than they might already do), people being charged to be in jail, even worse schools in england (you guys do generate a lot of morons), and a healthcare system like the US.

Hell, while you're at it, ban public TV.. right Alan.. the BBC creates nothing useful or entertaining. And of course they don't broadcast F1 at all either.. another one of their downfalls.

Right, Karting yaay, woo... nearly forgot that.

Public funded stuff is the way for crap to go. Everyone uses it, everyone should pay for it. A perfect example of Public vs Private... Which healthcare would you rather use. one like the UK or Canada, or one like the USA...

Right Alan, private all the way?!

Go break an arm in the US.. enjoy paying 15,000 to get it fixed. If I go get my arm broken in my hockey game I ref tonight.. pretty stoked that I can show up to a hospital, give them my Carecard (Provincial ID for medical care), and get it all casted up, and be able to go to a Doctor for free for them to check it out some more as follow up.

It is not the states job to provide 'entertainment'. That sounds like North Korea and NOT a free country to me! The BBC has no place to tell people what garden ornaments to have with various TV programmes and paper magazines. let some young entrepreneur do that with a business instead of stealing the cash off people who couldn't give a **** about gardens.

The BBC is SO fantastic as well. The one thing they should do - un-bias news coverage - has been so great in recent months.... NOT - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/cul ... its-science-coverage.html Finally some people are waking UP!

Private Schools Vs Public Ones - In the UK more and more parents are going private. The education kids get there is far superior to state schools despite the increased spending over the years. And that's an actual FACT.

I wish I went to a private school because i wouldn't have had to dodge drug dealers, and knife crime on a day to day basis. I also may have got a decent education instead of the dreadful one i received. State run systems are famously inefficient. I know how wasteful state systems are, it's quite horrifying. You simply don't get such waste in privately run enterprises.

It is widely acknowledged that this government spending culture is at an end. In the UK we probably have the biggest budget deficit out of all the developed nations aka we're ****ed! Businessmen are flocking out the UK (I know some personally) and this means LESS taxs for your publicly funded projects. and suddenly who's going to pay to fix your arm without all the nasty rich people and their taxes???

We need WEALTH creators not WEALTH deniers like you want. Socialism only works until you run out of OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY! and we've.... run out.
Dustin, just don't bother.

I can imagine the uproar if roads were privatised, the end result would be just like the road pricing scheme that our goverment has already proposed, and would probrably meet the same kind of reception.

Exactly, you don't know what you've got 'till you need it, or its gone.

Quote from Intrepid :I wish I went to a private school because i wouldn't have had to dodge drug dealers, and knife crime on a day to day basis.

Do you live in Tower Hamlets? I've never been near a private school yet I've never had to dodge dealers or been threatened with anything more than a blunt pencil.

Quote from Intrepid :You simply don't get such waste in privately run enterprises.

Oh yes, a good example would be various banks before they were nationalised and kept afloat with taxpayers money, they didn't waste a penny did they?

Still snowing here on and off, getting pretty deep.
Privatized roads. What a fantastic idea. That will keep the ice from forming...
Hey, Jack Frost loves the $$.
...looking at the reams of footage on the webs there is never anyone around that is using their freaking head to warn drivers of ice.

You'll see it time and time again and not just on ice a patrol car will enter the scene parked alongside or behind an incident, lights off waiting for it.

WTF? Should it not be police policy to lay multiple warning signals before the scene warning others...even throw down the ruddy reflective triangle from the boot

Although some footage is somewhat amusing, most of it could have been avoided.

In weather such as this the Gov. should have a seperate 'road safety authority' responsible for educating and warning road users through public awareness.

why not use the traffic signaling system that is already in place, using the traffic lights to warn of ice on the road ahead by altering the flashing signal of the junction lights...

Quote from Crashgate3 :Yes, because 3 weeks of cold weather (in winter of all things! Who would have thought it?) over about 5 countries is enough to completely invalidate at least 50 years' worth of steadily increasing global temperatures.

Good post, because I was totally serious about my statement, but now I feel total different about it. Thanks Crashgate3.

Of course I wasnt , smarty pants
Another load has fallen yesterday, which is already melting again.
Must've been atleast 15 cm's of snow.

Slowly melting here although our local roads still have a snowy / icy covering which is jolly good fun.

Can anyone find me the link to that black E36 Beemer in somewhere like Poland on ice tyres absolutely flying in the snow? I can't for the life of me find it.
