Depends what kind of games you're into. Stuff like Quake Live or Battlefield Heroes are good for the pick-up-and-play FPS fan. But FPS on a lappy can be a nightmare without a mouse

If you like RTS there's a fairly decent free online one called Shattered Galaxy that'll run on all but an Atari 2600 I used to play that ages ago.

Deus Ex, System Shock 2 and FreeSpace 2 would all get my vote as well.

In terms of racing games, you might get away with running Colin McRae Rally 2.0 (the best in the series), the original Driver and the first 2 Screamer games. I want all 3 of those soundtracks since my little brother seems to have lost all of my old discs!
Diablo 2
Starcraft
Warcraft 3
Quake
Dungeon keeper 2
TrackMania Nations Forever

Also The Sims if your that desperate
Sims 1?

Well, it depends, do u have connection there? LFS is good tho. And SoF2 (Soldier Of Fortune 2 Double Helix) - pretty good game, from year 2002 if im right and ive played it since it came out. Very fun game i gotta say.
SLRR?
Vdrift?
Interstate 76 Nitro pack
Nascar 2005
open source games etc
Battlefield?

Idn really depends what your pc can handle
Grand Prix Legends will run like a dream as it's from 1998.

It is also the greatest racing sim ever made.

+1.
Introversion made some nice games, Uplink kept my interest for months back in the day, DEFCON and Darwinia are very nice too.

A good ol' Elastomania shouldn`t hurt having there, for the lulz.
Red Alert, Mortal Kombat..

You know best now .. too many and you`ll be too distracted.

Edit: Unreal tournament.

Holy... How did I forget that
Massive +1
Amazing game, so many fun hours spent on it
CS 1.6 and Team Fortress Classic
Don't forget Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 and 2
or Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Could probably play it with max settings...

Was 1 of the best FPS on Xbox1....
Quote from LFSn00b :Tried Eve online trial and got addicted on it for a few days. But then got tired of it and went back to FPS and stuff.

thank god.
flat out (all 3)

If you're willing to go that far back, UFO: Enemy Unknown is a must have. Still very playable even today
