Question for anyone with a cockpit
My goal is to construct something like this in the short-term

But I haven't been able to find any of the piping. Every single store I went to (2x Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Crafty Beaver, and Menard's) sell only round plimbing pipes. Any helps?

Also, any advice for cheap seats? I'm guessing junk yard.

Thanks in advance
I've bought Square tubing like that in Home Depot before.. A bit overpriced but It gets the job done.

Check if there are any industrial supply places near you. They often carry an assortment of metal sheet/pipe

Junkyards are a great place for cheap seats. Just be careful that they are at least semi clean :O

You can also get some pretty cheap "racing like" Seats from ebay.
Thanks for the quick reply.

The only square tubing I found at home depot was aluminum. Is that what you used?

I found to be feel to malleable to be useful.

No, They had mild steel.

Not sure what you mean here?
I think he is saying he needs to be able to bend it (malleable) to make use of it.
Sorry about the stupid syntax.

I meant to say that the aluminum felt to "bendy," or malleable

Im going to a supplier tomorrow

Will aluminium be strong enough to support your weight for years of use?
For aluminum to support my weight, I'd need to spend a lot more than I want to. My new cockpit will be steel based.
Heh, it'd cost more to make a sim-racing cockpit.

Given all the different cockpits I've seen, you're going for form over function when you go that expensive.
Just get some T-slot aluminun either 3030 (metric) or 1515 (standard).

cost a little more but you will not have to weld them together and is more adjustable
