Please help with Linux
Hello, i have one problem with starting server on linux. I doed all what there's writted in this tutorial: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=9572, but then i try to do:
wine LFS.exe /cfg=path/to/setup.cfg

It gives me a error, and i don't know what to do. Please help me, i'm 2nd day on linux OS, and write the simpler how you can, thanks.

The error:
Invoking /usr/lib/wine/wine.bin LFS.exe /cfg=path/to/setup.cfg ...
Application tried to create a window, but no driver could be loaded.
Make sure that your X server is running and that $DISPLAY is set correctly.
Wine exited with a successful status

EDIT: And how solve this one problem:

Cannot open /dev/tty0 (No such file or directory)

I had no troubles running LFS with Wine, if you use a native unpacker, decompress the whole bundle to:

~/games/lfs

or

z:\games\lfs

if you run the self-extracting .exe package using Wine.

Then type the following:

cd ~/games/lfs
wine lfs.exe

Are you attempting to run the dedi server from a linux box that is running without an X server? Karl (TAA) has ran it before, but never told much more than him running it X-Less.
A few options for running completely X-less:
1. Recompile Wine without X support
2. Use a package with X support, but don't install the X libraries (you'll still get a lot of cruft, and this may not work, depending on how your distro packages wine)
3. Use wineconsole (which was being phased out, last time I looked into it)

In both cases you need to make sure you have perfect cfg for LFS because if its not perfect LFS will try and either create a window or a dialog box telling you there is an error.

You need to ensure that you're running with /dedicated=invisible and that everything else is correctly and perfectly set in the cfg (which you can either test on a Linux server with X, or on a windows machine).

If you don't care about X and all its crap being installed, you could use xvfb.

Disclaimer: I've not run LFS dedi on Linux for quite sometime, and things may have changed.

The post above explained what your options are to get it working
remote Dedicated LFS server @ Linux
Hi, accidentally saw this topic..
I'm running remote Dedicated LFS server @ Linux.
Will explain how to do this.

1. To run LFS need Wine (so install it if you don't have yet)
2. Go to LFSserver folder: cd <folder_name>
3. Config must be: /dedicated=invisible
4. LFS server command to run:
screen wineconsole --backend=curses LFS.exe /cfg=setup.cfg
After this command lfs server console window will apper on ssh console.
To close("minimize") this window need to type: CTRL+A,CTRL+D, then you will return to linux console.
For closing(terminating) this window use: CTRL+C or kill <PID> or kill -9 <PID>

After running LFS server you can look all running processes and PID's typing: ps x

*
If you get an error like this:
ALSA lib seq_hw.c:457: (snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such file or directory
Application tried to create a window, but no driver could be loaded.
Make sure that your X server is running and that $DISPLAY is set correctly.

It means that wine cannot load sound MIDI drivers. Why midi? - because LFS server config was bad and LFS forced to show an error(message+loading MIDI sound for windows)
Solution: try to check your setup.cfg

Edit: was it helpful?

ps: you can check how it runs connecting to: drifting.lt
