I'm from another CSF for www.wwiionline.com i just bought this game yesterday. looking at all the updates it struck me...how does this game update? is it a auto connect like wwiionline so everyone has the same version or do you have to do a manuel install?

Ok, so lets say you download the game, and it came in the ZIP file. You basically would have extracted that and the game plays out of the folder... no real install like most games.

Then, when you go and get an update or a patch, it is also a ZIP file. Once you download and extract that, you just overwrite the files and that's it. Not really that hard... but no, LFS doesn't have any auto-update feature.

Also a thing worth mentioning, these little patches we randomly get to fix some NON physics issues are online compatible with each other, you don't necessarily need it to race online against people who already have the update.
